It soon adds up when you write it all down doesn't it? I'm trying to do the Marie Kondo thing of not thinking of how much money we've wasted but thank the item for its service. It's not working, apart from making me think twice before buying something else I don't need.

I would argue that it is working if you are thinking twice before buying something. I would buy a lot of things because they were a bargain or just in case i needed them. I am now firmer with myself and I only KD when i am 'the zone.'

I don't follow it whole heartedly and it is a slow process but what has been done is staying done! I have a tendency to dump things when my depression hits me hard but find when i am in the right frame of mind have less to do which prolongs my mood.

  • Cleaned a load of black gunk off my bottom window ledge frame bit(ick!) and cracked it open a tad to try and dry it out.

Smells better in here already :o

Emptied my bedroom bin and gave that a wipe out too and will do the same to the bathroom bin when I get home form work.

The bathroom window needs cleaning but someone else can do that as there's loads of spider webs there :rotfl:

A small victory for me was letting go of a dress I loved, but which didn't fit. I'd been convincing myself I'd wear it again, but realistically even if it did fit me, I doubt I'd ever wear again, so that one has gone to the charity shop.
Also a small fail in the form of a pearl necklace with a little pendant. I've owned it at least 8 years, never worn it, sat there yesterday and photographed it for eBay, then afterwards for some reason tried it on and realised I love it, even though it's far too dressy for me and I can't think what I could wear it with or for what occasion. Despite this, it is now back in the drawer, oops!

    Decluttering from the weekend:

    133 frying pan to CS
    134 pile of magazines recycled
135 14 ramekins to CS or recycled

I've decided that this Lent I'm going to spend 30 minutes a day decluttering, as part of being disciplined about getting my life in order! I'm full of cold today and feeling very grotty, so opted for sorting a box of things whilst watching tv. It was a box of stuff that had been in need of sorting for many years.... things in there were beteeen 3 and 5 years old. I'm half way through- I'm not going to count each piece of paper as life is too short, so I'm definitely understating the total! I'm not half way down the box yet (and that was 45 minutes today) so I think this will take me to the end of the week. So very roughly:

    136 locklead (key lost)
    137 old envelopes recycled
    138 old business cards recycled
    139 old folder to bin
140 old school papers into shredder
141 old tourism leaflets into bin
    142 old takeaway leaflets recycled
    143 old tax letters shredded
144 old bank statements for children's accounts shredded
    Declutter our home in 2024
    Lose weight in 2024

Oh,I am soooooo pleased with my efforts today.
For a while I have been telling myself I must sort out my airing cupboard.Tonight it looks beautiful :smileyhea.I had the day off,and spent just over three hours  sorting it out .I made sure all duvet covers enveloped the pillow casesand any bottom sheets that are designed to go with each set.Tried to look at a few you-tube tutorials on folding fitted sheets, but ,firstly I couldn't easily follow the couple I watched, and decided it didn't loook much neater thsn how I already do them.
I set aside for donation a couple of bedding sets I haven't used for years, and a couple of sets missing one or more pillow cases.
Then I sorted out towels: bath towels, bath sheets,hand-towels.I set aside a few to donate for rag,or use for my work.Folded the rest all the same way,put them back in 3 different piles.
Then I did blankets. Can't believe how many of those my partner has bought over the years.Just the thin, cheap ones you get for a couple of pounds each, but there must have been about 10 of them, probably because he can never find them :rotfl:.
So pleased with that little job :j.
