Really pleased with my progress, especially the hair accessories which belonged to my daughter. She has absolutely loads and I had been sneaking them out one by one, but I sat down with her and she chose 15 to get rid of. Usually if I suggest getting rid of anything, she will declare it's her favourite, even if she's never looked at it in months!
Lots more to do and unfortunately I did go charity shopping and bring lots into the house yesterday. Oops! Most was summer clothes for the kids, they don't really have any, so I've been picking up the odd bit 2nd hand when I see it, so I'm not hit with a big cost when the warmer weather comes about. That's my excuse anyway :rotfl:0 -
OH and kids went to inlaws' for the afternoon/evening,giving me an opportunity to get lots of sorting done.My focus today was sorting papers,in between a few loads of washing, and mopping kitchen floor (takes longer than you think-large kitchen, combined with laminate floor, which cannot get too wet apparently,so I I usually get by just vacuuming or sweeping it.Tonight I sprayed with combinaation of vinegar/water.Took forever).
Considering the amount of papers I sorted through,my numbers should be bigger. But they take forever.Kid's drawings I make sure there is a date on,set aside to put in a big box.I find things like drawings, mothers day cards, birthday cards, and I want to keep them all.In amongst these,I find old mail (insurance cetificate from 2014,Tesco vouchers, for eg).Anything I am getting rid of,I remove name and addresss before putting out for recycling.
301-306:browsed through some magazines from 2008-9 :eek: that I had obviously kept intending to catch up on at some stage ,usually because there was an article in it I wanted to read.SOme of them I wondered why I kept, others I clipped a 2-3 page article out of.Might read them before going to bed tonight.Remainder of mags out for recycling
307:box that a phone screen protector came in.Sounds silly-I recycle boxes all the time without listing them here. But sometimes,if it is a sturdy box, I feel wasteful throwing it out,and often it kicks around the house or loft "just in case" I need a box (or kids need one for make-and-do,etc).A few months ago I had bought anothe one of these protectors, and I don't think the box has been put out for recycling yet.
I am not sure how to count the papers I have sorted. In total I spent nearly 2.5 hours on papers,in 4 different sittings.Plucking a figure out of the air,I will count it as 3,so 308-310.
I sorted out about a dozen items of clothes I dragged out of the canvas shelves yesterday. Some I have put in the bag for charity, others I left on 14yo daughter's bed for her to decide if she would like,or donate.I had bought them about 3 years ago, after losing about 1.5 stone. They were only cheap (mostly Primark, looking at the labels still attached to them ),so I would easily have been able to donate them, but she was thrilled to inherit them, and the really suited her.SO no decluttering numbers there, but similar: getting things out of precious storage space, and getting them used for their intended purpose, instead of dying in storage, and making me feel guilty

Managed to ditch another couple of bits at the weekend - the best of which was a child's car seat which our son has outgrown and we were able to give to a friend. They take up so much space!

It soon adds up when you write it all down doesn't it? I'm trying to do the Marie Kondo thing of not thinking of how much money we've wasted but thank the item for its service. It's not working, apart from making me think twice before buying something else I don't need.Illegitimi non carborundum.0

I haven't really been decluttering today, but I did start rearranging a couple of my kitchen cupboards, making extra space using under-shelf-hanging-basket thingys, and "step-shelves",that use more of the empty height in tall cupboards.I still don't think I've got my cupboards completely organised re what lives where, but at least I can see what is there!SPC #36 :staradminx 8.SPC7=£751.10 SPC8=£651.04 SPC9=£843.00 SPC10=£872.76

Hi everyone,
Haven't been here for a while, so just catching up with all your hard work. I've got back into decluttering over the past couple of weeks and have said goodbye to lots of little bits of nothing, a rug, a couple of electrical items, the dried up contents of my make up bag and as ever a big stack of magazines.0 -
Things are going well this end
Lots of smaller rubbishy bits out(last week we had SEVEN rubbish bags to go out for the bin men! ).
Various cardboard boxes of varying sizes/quality/sturdiness flattened to go out for recycling this week.
I cut the boyfriends hair on Sunday so i must remember to empty my bedroom bin of the hair that came off his head :rotfl:
He has this ring he wears that is quite tight, but he insists it doesn't hurt, so he happily wears it, and almost never takes it off. He took it off in the shower last week and said the skin on his finger where the ring sits was stinging when the water touched it, so he gave me his ring and said to fill a cup with bleach and soak the ring in it for a few days. I did it and it came up really well, got all the dirt off and he's happy so that's the main thingIt also gave the skin a chance to air too.
I also was naughty yesterday and bought 2 items off someone on one of the fb selling groups - an oilcloth handbag which is dark blue with small pink flowers on it and a '50's style dress with a halterneck which is white with a red flower print over the top, it is very nice
So, again, not decluttering in the strict sense, but more getting rid of what we don't want, and acquiring things we do want0
