Hi all, congratulations Blackcats on winning the league :T :T We won again yesterday, 10 points out of a possible 12 has moved us up to 10th, happy with that :D

My brother was down yesterday and the plan was we were all going out for a big family lunch ... however, ds went to scouts on friday night and they went foraging in the forest. He came home and said his throat was tickly (he suffers with hayfever), and then spent the whole night throwing up :( He finally went to sleep at 4am and woke up at 5.15 last night  So ds and I missed the family get together, but it couldn't be helped. He's feeling better today but is having a lazy day indoors and in the garden.

I did pop to Sainsburys last night and got a few bits and pieces, I also stripped his bed and did 3 loads of washing, so today I have my bedding to wash and then the ironing to do. I also might have a go at planting some herbs, it's one of those things I always wanted at the flat and couldn't do.

Thanks Moneyfordreams, I do like lazy Sundays :D

I forgot to mention, I have booked for us to go away for 3 nights at the start of the summer holidays - so those of you who were around last year may remember last year we bought rail rover tickets and traveled the UK for a week on unlimited trains - Aberdeen to Penzance in one day was quite memorable! Anyway, this year, I have found a website that just does railway accommodation, either in carriages or converted station houses etc, most are fully booked already but I did manage to find one with 3 nights free in July, so we will be staying in a converted train carriage that is on a siding right next to a mainline, we even have a little garden with a key to the station platform :D The carriage has wifi, so laptop and chilling for me, and ds can watch trains 24/7 for 3 days ;)

Sounds ideal win win for both of you. Re herbs for the garden those pots you buy in supermarkets makes excellent outdoor herbs just split them and make sure they acclimatised a bit first. Much easier than growing from seeds cheaper than garden centre prices for parsley, basil etc.

I've done a trip to the tip with a load of cardboard that was stacked in the garage, then went to B&Q and have spent £25 on various plants and some compost. Just had a sandwich and now off to fill some pots etc in the garden :D
Ds is still flopping on the sofa, he's quite snuffly today, doesn't want to eat anything and is just generally listless. He did manage a bit of bread and butter last night but that's all he's eaten since friday :(

Thanks for the tip Tallgirl, I did get some mint at B&Q, I love mint, but will wait for my next tesco order to get some chives and some other herbs :)

I've planted a few, I'm going to sit in the conservatory for a bit and update my Amazon wishlist, there are more and more bits and pieces I'm realising I am going to need. Nothing major, just having not had any outdoor space at the flat I am totally lacking in the gardening department - eg. watering can, hosepipe etc. I might potter around a car boot sale next weekend and see if I can pick up some tools and bits and bobs there ;)

Thanks for the footie congrats. I think Bournemouth have done well this season and played some really good football. Just waiting for tonight's game - a much changed team playing tonight.
I planted some herbs last week - just a few but looking forward to them growing this summer. I made myself a pot of mint tea yesterday - well it was freshly picked mint leaves and boiling water - really delicious and very refreshing.
I've done a financial housekeeping exercise tonight - a bit time consuming but worthwhile exercise. Set myself some new targets for the rest of the year which have got me motivated again. Hope your DS is feeling better.

hi ben ben. haven't posted for yonks but follow yr diary still. sorry you are having a difficult time hope things settle down for dts, that's hard.
v pleased you got yr house! just a thought on yr gutters, it's worth getting something called hedgehogs for yr gutters, get someone to put them in, no more paying to have them cleared out. it's like the stuff from bottle brushes that sit in the gutter, preventing build up of anything but water flows through. we have them in ours, they are genius. small capital outlay saves money and having blocked gutters and any potential damp problems occurring from that. it's a genius design.

    and it's friday:T:T:T

Evening all, another week done, ds is still not 100%, it's come out like a cold now. He went off to bed just before 9 tonight and was snoring within minutes. He's off to his Dads tomorrow, so I have a weekend of pottering / housework and chilling ahead of me. Next weekend we break up for half-term so I might think ahead to what we might do then.

The dog was in the garden a few minutes ago and was going loopy, I went out there and I have a hedgehog snuffling away :j The dog couldn't quite make out what it was and wandered off but it has made my day, the one thing I really wanted in my garden was a hedgehog and there's one here already :D I'm off to google what to put out for them, maybe we'll have a family of them and baby hogs one day :)

Morning all, I was up with ds at 6.30 this morning, he went off to do his paper-round, I started the housework ;) One load of washing done and out, bathroom cleaned, all washing rounded up from both bedrooms, beds made, windows opened, dishwasher emptied and refilled, all rubbish out, conservatory floor swept, all 'stuff' correctly homed. Still to be done: Dusting and hoovering, a few more loads of washing, clean the car out.

Ds needs to go to the station to catch his train in about 20 minutes then I might pop to M&S and treat myself to a few nice foodie bits for the weekend ;)
