Vulpix- that's why asked how big it is as you said you had it off eb*y- I assume it wasn't delivered through the post! Sounds like you had a lovely day yesterday with more of the same planned for today- ooh er Missus- planting your 'drawers' up! xxx

Off into Solihull (eventually) as miss clever clogs wants to return a blazer she bought the other day then decided on the way home that she didn't like! She had a mixed day yesterday as the company she has worked for whilst at Uni isn't renewing their contract with Selfridges so she has until 13th Aug to sort something out as she isn't keen on the position they are offering her with their sister company (so no redundancy pay ) BUT then she had her dissertation grades whilst at work and they were excellent ( not going to tempt fate til final grades are in but she is well on track for a First). So a day of mixed emotions for her (and us), but she has got up this morning full of enthusiasm and anticipation.

Off to brave clothes shopping in this heat.............wish me luck!

Hi all, i've been AWOL for ages again! I always say I miss posting on here and I do, you're probably thinking well why don't you post more often but time seems to be flying by! Wiggle doesn't really have naps now and i'm always too tired to do anything in the evening! I noticed a while ago that some of you left me birthday messages, thank you I really appreciate them! I hope you're all ok, i'm going to go back now and see if I can have a little catch up. xx

VULPIX is your foo dog a male or female? I had to google it too hence the question. Off white sounds very nice and it'll go with everything. When on earth did you find the time to make biscuits you superwoman?! I went with a plant for BIL, bought him a Western Sword Fern (he likes ferns and palms) and a nice ceramic pot so was all good.

MURIE I feel for you with the rat. I still miss my Alfie (gorgeous black and white) who died many years ago now but I don't miss those mornings coming downstairs to feathers and bits of bird all over the room! Getting rid of the cat flap helped apart from the time he brought a live mouse in via the front window! My Tara (gorgeous tortie half Persian) sadly also no longer with us was never really into hunting thank goodness.

PRINCESSKITTY nice to see you, must be pretty uncomfortable for you in this heat. Mine were both winter babies (December and January) so wasn't something I had to deal with. Can't believe Wiggle is almost three, it seems so much more recent that he was a tiny baby.

FREE I was the same the day after Manchester when DGD was going to Chelsea with her teacher (she won a competition at the school gardening club and that was the prize). But you can't live life like that can you, you just have to hope that everything will be ok which thankfully it was and she had a lovely time.

I was thinking today about sayings and favourite quotes. I've got three really, two 'serious' ones: 'one life, live it'; 'all it takes for evil to triumph is that good men do nothing' (may have paraphrased that one); and my favourite not so serious one 'just because you can doesn't mean you should' :D Anyone else got any favourites?

Well the Foo Dog appears to be gender neutral! It has both feet on the ground with neither a ball or cub.But for four quid I am happy with it.

I like the sound of your BIL's present peppa.I am off to a nursery later just for a look round you understand.BTW if I say that to MR V he says " you always look round to me"

Hi PK thank goodness the weather has cooled down a bit,it must be grim to be pregnant in heat.Out of my experience, mine were February and April.By accident not design:rotfl:

Peppa what a fab prize for your GD,start em young with life skills is my motto. There is great pleasure to be had from growing a garden and being able to cook.

Well Millie the tortie from over the road has noticed the blue tits nesting in the box in my garden. She spends alot of time watching Elvis and Pricillas coming and goings.I hope she doesnt get them.
Elvis has a quiff btw,so does Pricilla.

Murie you are a stronger person than me to go into town when its scorching hot, hope you got sorted.

I like the heat but it got the better of me yesterday, didnt get my drawers planted:o

    I have loads of sayings.

If food is hot I say "its hotter than the burning fires of hell"

"this wont knit the baby a new bonnet" when I need to get on with it.

too many to bore you with here.

Many years ago I worked with a lovely Brummie lady and I still use a couple of hers

    Read in a Brummie accent,

"Don't put it down put it away,I'll have that on my tombstone,I will"

    and

"I said to Melvin last night,I said,Melvin, whats yours is mine and whats mines me own"

I had an Aunt who used to sit up so close to the fire she had brown marks on her legs. She used to say "Right I'll have another fag n then I'll knock spots off,oh !!!!!! it it's too late now,I'll do it tomorrow"

That one is where i get my attitude to cleaning but without the fags.:rotfl:

    Free:hello:

Peppa- as Vulpix says that was a lovely prize for DGD to win, I hope she had a fab time. My last cat took it upon himself to decimate the local fog population but Bailey isn't so discerning he hunts everything (except so far a bird strangely enough). Yesterday morning he bought a cooked sausage home! The people a few doors down had a BBQ on Friday night and they must have left some stuff out (not a good idea).
My fave saying (so the kids tell me) is 'it takes all sorts to make the world go round' - I hope it means I have taught them the importance of tolerance of everyone's differences . Im not aware of any others but I am sure I have some.
Vulpix the foo dog sounds like a fab bargain! DH and I always say 'what's your is mine and what's mine is my own' too- although neither of us are not called Melvin! One of my Nans all time favourite saying was 'Well I'll go to the foot of our stairs!'- I never really understood it but I took it to mean that she was surprised or shocked about something.
Yesterday was not such a nice day weather wise- so the BBQ we had planned was cooked outdoors but eaten inside or we would all have blown away. Today as DS is off he is going to use the pizza oven that caused me so much grief last year ( remember that I got it in August and had trouble storing it, stubbing my toes every time I got out of bed??!). Im really hoping it works well and that the weather is OK at lunch time - its looking pretty promising at the mo.

Good morning all, and a very early one it is too. We have had our DGD since yesterday morning as my Son and DDIL have gone off to a very posh wedding (Royalty in attendance)
She is such a good little girl and sleeps all night but at 2.5yrs she does like her early starts. Mum and Dad will be back at lunch time to collect her.

Peppa I'm jealous of your bungalow, glad you've settled in well. We need to downsize to a bungalow in the next couple of years. This will hopefully mean we are mortgage free and any remaining debt will be settled. It also means I won't have to struggle with stairs anymore as it is a real struggle with my knees
Vulpix my DH is really difficult but there is nothing he likes better than garden vouchers
Murie:eek: on the rat. We have a beautiful cat next door who seems to have adopted us and she keeps the field mice in check. Our house backs onto a field and we get lots and lots.
The weather changed yesterday afternoon and it poured down and its very wet this morning.
I'm hoping for a nice restful afternoon once DGD has gone home. You forget how tiring little ones are.
Have a good Sunday all x

Peppa, my own favourite is 'it all brings night' helps to get through a tough day, and we all have those. Also 'as thrang as Throp's wife' when l have too much to do. And 'give today to the Queen' when l have a lazy day, or cant be bothered, (that was also my mums)
DS2 was a July baby, so l don't envy you in this heat, PK. Of course, in the last stages of that pregnancy all l wanted were proper 'tatie dinners' and l can still see my lovely gran standing barefoot in the kitchen cooking them for me.
Still busy in the garden, it is looking lush after the rain yesterday, but can it stop now and can l have the sun back?

Thanks for your lovely well wishes. I am certainly struggling with the heat at the moment, I don’t get on well with heat when I’m not pregnant so it’s certainly taking it’s toll! Wiggle was an August baby so I was heavily pregnant through the summer last time, but I didn’t have a little person to run around after and could do what I wanted, i.e. sit on the sofa all day with a fan aimed at me! Not long now though, only a few weeks to go. I’m having a bit of me time this morning as DH has taken Wiggle to the zoo, although it’s funny because I quite often crave some alone time but now I’m at home feeling like I’m missing out! I am terrible like that. :o

Anyway I’ve tried to catch up as best I can, sorry for the long post and sorry if I’ve missed anything!

Trendyjenny congratulations on your engagement!

Good to ‘see’ you Pinksteps! I’m glad you are in a better place now. I just noticed your wins for 2017 – that’s amazing!! How did you manage that??

Clumsy I hope you can get things get clearer with your health issues soon so that you can start to feel better.

nic it must be awful to have a neighbour like that, you poor thing. :( We had a similar situation in our old house where there would be loads of kids in the garden ALL DAY long screaming and what not then in the evening all the teenagers would come out shouting and swearing etc. So it was pretty much all day long noise and difficult to enjoy any nice relaxing time in the garden.

freespirit I’m so sorry to hear you’ve been struggling with the BD again recently, it is truly horrible. Congratulations for your daughter getting engaged! What an amazing way to propose and it sounds like you had a lovely family time celebrating.

Peppa congrats on the house move! I’m glad it finally happened for you and it’s all done now. It sounds like you’re getting all settled in well. How lovely that you’re going to get a new dog, I’ve got my fingers crossed for your adoption application.

GTQ I LOVED that Michael McIntyre clip! That is me every year!! :rotfl: I always want to belt that song out but never know the words despite hearing it millions of times for the last 28 years! I’ve made it my mission this year to learn them before Christmas so I can actually sing it properly. :D

murie thanks for thinking of me, little bundle will be here soon, looking forward to it so that I can enjoy feeling ‘normal’ again – whatever that is! :p

vulpix it sounds like your DS is on an amazing trip! I hope your DD has settled into her job, what a lovely place to work.

mrsinvisilble haha I have become very partial to eating a great deal at the moment!

Yay MURIE, I'd almost forgotten about the pizza oven. Hope it's proved itself worth all the pain :D.

MRSINVIS I've just remembered a couple of my mum's gems. 'Get in the oven your eyes ain't baked' was a regular (basically you must be joking) and a rude one 'hope his xxxx turn square and fester in the corners' (usually said in reference to my Dad -they divorced when I was 11). I'm assuming they must be old East End sayings as I've never heard anyone else use them!

JULIE I feel your pain with the early mornings! When my DGD (8) stays in the school hols she goes to bed beautifully and sleeps well but is always up early - by about nine o'clock I feel like it's time for lunch :D.

PRINCESSKITTY found out today we didn't get the Jug, saw a post on Facebook from the rescue place saying she's been adopted today. Disappointed for us but pleased for her. She obviously wasn't meant for us.

Had a lovely day yesterday with DD2 and DGD though might have duffed myself a bit with some over enthusiastic weeding on Friday! Have spent this afternoon wiring up the lights in my big dolls house as going to be selling it next week if all goes according to plan. Part of me really wants to keep it but if I'm honest I have nowhere for it to go and I need to fund my kitchen move.
