Hi everyone.
Yes, our Lamona dishwasher has broken so i need to buy a new one. I will never buy from Currys again and won,t buy BOSCH because of previous appaling customer service. Therefore', please allow me to ask multiple questions:
1. Should I wait until Boxing day sales? Am I likely to save a decent amount of cash?
2. A friend said John Lewis are really good with after sales and problems. Your thoughts please?
3. Any recommendations on brands?
4. The Lamona gas hob is on the blink too so is it worth buying
Both items from same place?
Thanks in advance guys.

Lamona is the 'in house' brand of Howdens and has a pretty lamentable reliability record.
I have a Siemens gas hob and a dishwasher and they are excellent. You can pick your friends and you can pick your nose but you can't pick your friend's nose.0 -

Bosch (but you don't like them), Miele and John Lewis are the only dishwashers I've ever used. The only one that has broken down was the one from John Lewis. It's worth checking the energy rating, the water and power consumption over the lifetime add upAubrey_Thicket wrote: »4. The Lamona gas hob is on the blink too so is it worth buying

I'm sure someone will be along to tell me I'm wrong, but I was always under the impression that for a given brand the more expensive appliances just have more features rather than being more reliable. It is rarely worth paying for extra features.
Out of interest, how old are your Lamona Dishwasher and Hob, given that they're both failed or on the way out.0 -
Depends what your budget is. When we moved into our old house there was a miele dishwasher there, probably 20 years old but really good. We left that place to move into rented for a short while so left it behind and now we have a hotpoint one and I wish we'd spent more on another miele.0

whats wrong with the one you have?
Our(indesit) stopped washing properly and it turned out there are two design issues.
The seal for the upper basket needs replacing on a regular basis <£2 and 5min job.
The strainer/filter was plastic and fell apart letting stuff into the machine that blocked the arms.
new metal filter and cleaning out the arms sorted that for good.0 -
Miele if you can afford it - otherwise Siemens or Bosch, which are basically the same offerings as each other.0

Having worked in the industry years ago I would always say Bosch (or Siemens, same thing, aren't AEG the same too?)
I've just bought a new Bosch because my 30 years old Hotpoint packed up & I was little worried to see "Made in Spain" on the label. Hotpoint used to have dishwashers made in Spain & they were awful, but that was a long time ago.Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.0 -
getmore4less makes a very valid point. Have you tried getting it repaired, or do you at least know what the fault is and how much it will cost to replace?0

Another vote for John Lewis and Bosch most of your kitchen appliances are Bosch bought from JL and have been trouble free with good longevity.0

My parent's have used the most basic Indesit models since 1975 and currently on the 3rd one, make of that what you will:
1975-1999
1999-2014
2014-present0 -
Recently had a new Ikea dishwasher (Electrolux under the hood). I had no end of trouble and eventually got Ikea to take it away and a full refund. Replaced with a Siemens model and the difference is quite dramatic in terms of the build quality.
Note that brands are made by the same manufactures.
Bosch, Siemens and Smeg are all the same manufacturer, look at the machines, they're all the same!
Electrolux, Zanussi, Ikea, AEG are all the same too.0
