Lost Amazon delivery

Amazon have told me my order has been delivered but I don't have it. I've checked my property and with neighbours and nothings turned up. When contacting Amazon they refuse to provide a copy of the pod signature and instead told me to call the police, I don't see why I should be responsible for this but can anyone advise what my options are?

Upon your email, I regret to inform you that - we cannot share the copy of the signature or share the outcome of investigation due security concerns.

However, we got complete required details (mentioned below) to confirm the delivery at your location.

Status: Delivered

Based on the results of our investigation, we won’t be able to provide a replacement/refund for this order at this time. We advise you to contact your local police authorities, if necessary, in order to pursue this matter further.

If the issue isn't resolved after contacting local police please contact us again with the police crime report number and details of the station where the incident was reported.

Please reply to this e-mail and attach your Police Report to the reply as a PDF, JPG or PNG file.

  • Amazon have been hit for a lot of refund scams, Contact the police and provide them the crime reference and they will refund, A scammer isn't going to contact police

Why wouldn't you contact the police?? If the parcel has been stolen by the courier or someone else, then it needs reporting.

Just report it stolen, get a crime number, then go back to Amazon.
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

If YOUR parcel has been stolen, then of course it is your responsibility to inform the Police. If it has genuinely gone missing then you have nothing to fear (and everything to gain) from obtaining a Crime Report Number as requested by Amazon.

How did you pay for the item?

How confrontational do you wish to be? If you don't play by Amazon's rules then they are quite likely to stop taking any business from you (and quite possibly others at your address). This could have further implications if you have a prime account or have kindle content etc.

Personally I think certain aspects of what Amazon are saying is unreasonable. And I can suggest a robust response. But, I suspect it will lead to you being banned as a customer.

If the parcel has been stolen, then it's not been delivered to the OP so it's not his parcel to report stolen.

That is the debate, of course. When and by whom was it stolen?

As Amazon want a crime number in order to progress any refund or replacement, I'd be inclined to provide one as the simplest straightforward solution to the problem.

I wonder why Amazon are so adamant that it has been successfully delivered? Could it be that the OP's account has a history of failed deliveries? Normally, Amazon are very accommodating and will refund or replace without quibble.

Proving he can get one. The police may say it's for Amazon to report it or if they don't it's just lost in transit.

I thought that Amazon had hand held delivery pods that were geo fenced eg they can only allow them to process the delivery if the pod detects it's at the delivery address or at a neighboors address.

Amazon should know the location that the delivery was processed at

Playing Devil's Advocate, that only proves that the delivery agent was at the correct property, of course; not proof that it was actually delivered to the correct recipient.

I suppose it depends on what the OP has told Amazon were the circumstances of the "theft".
