  • I've been terrible over the last year with my work lunches, and the packed bags had turned into lunch - and sometimes brekkie as well - being bought every day, which is horrific! I'm so embarrassed and annoyed with myself.

Anyway, first day back today, and brought leftovers for lunch. Made an instant hot chocolate from a tub I bought last month instead of going to a coffee shop at elevenses. Made too much dinner tonight again on purpose, so that's tomorrow sorted.

Zero spent on the GC so far. Hopefully the milk will last til the weekend and I can avoid the shops til then :)

Just checking in. It's been NSDs and will be until Thursday I think. Having a mushroom risotto for tea and hopefully will be enough there for tomorrow as well. Enjoying seeing how well everyone is doing!

    Hi!
Please could I up my target to £180 as I forgot our meat box delivery.
First grocery shop of the year £52.28/180
    2019 fashion on a ration 0/66 coupons
  • I have some leftover mash from tea tonight. It was made with extra thick double cream as it needed using up today/tomorrow.

My question is, will it be safe to eat tomorrow? Thinking about making cottage pie for the kids coming home from school. Perfect amount to add to the top of my daughters own individual portion as she is vegetarian. Really don't want to be wasting much food this month.

Every little helps and all that nonsense.....

Evening all, had a flat tyre today so needed to buy a new one . While in town, popped to Ald! and spent £19 on super six, milk, bread etc. Got a massive bag for that so quite pleased.
Tonight was day 3 of leftover roast chicken and we had chicken, bacon and cream cheese with pasta. It as lovely but all chicken now used up. Stock has also gone in freezer for another day. Will have to buy eggs tomorrow but am hoping to get away with not doing a big shop this week....we'll see...

    Have a good evening,

    Hi everyone

Looking forwards to starting tomorrow, although I'm still eating left over Xmas stuff I'll be glad when it's gone!!! I allow myself £25 a week for just me but that includes food and toiletries. I have a separate budget for fuel and one for treats ie coffee out, days out but it isn't that much so this year I'm putting any leftover grocery money in a pot with leftover treat money for extra treats!!!

This last week I've still £15 in my food purse so if it's still there tonight it goes into treat purse, and this coming week I'm hoping it will not be a food spendy week as the freezer is still rammed and it could do with defrosting so I think there will be a strange variety of meals!!

I love the idea of a 'treat purse' - think I'll do the same as I plan to use any 'leftover' money to fund either chocolate or a bottle of wine for the weekend. It's just me also and I'm trying for £30 but for that I want to focus on nutritionally balanced meals if possible.

After two no spend days we ventured into Sains supermarket and spent £16.20 of our £120 months budget. I am having to be very careful of what I eat at the moment as I have bad heartburn but have meds starting tomorrow, fingers crossed! Anyway have bought bananas, Greek yogurt, 2 bags of quorn "chicken pieces" on offer at £1.50 a bag, whole meal loaf and pack of thins,2 packs of light babybels (also on offer -6 for £1), semi skim milk, tea bags and a bag of frozen strawberries and bananas. Having to avoid citrus fruit for now :( Hopefully no more spends until next Monday!
Glad to hear Babybels are on offer at SBs this week as I have them on my shopping list too!

Well, I did succumb in a@da tonight. Had to buy ds some new school shoes - had forgotten all holiday!! Also had to get oh a birthday card and cake (tiny one as both on diet - easier than faffing this week and only £3.50 for a really indulgent thorntons cake).

Anyway, we were there at reduction time, so got two punnets of plums for 10p each and 4 lots of prepared veg to bake (the mixed stuff in a silver pack) for 20p each. I also got 4 lots of dairylea Dunkers as they're on offer for £1 atm, and my ch love them for a treat instead of sandwiches in their packed lunch.

So, given that the cake was from gifts budget, and I'm obviously not counting the shoes (!!), I spent £5.

I made a spag bol on Sunday, and froze the leftovers today in 3 3-portions.

    Night all!

I'd say yes - but if you want to make 'more' sure then bung that small amount of mash in the freezer until you need it tomorrow :)
