Hi I tried to join last year and failed straight away! I'm now on my own with three ravenous boys and also pets and shopping has been out of control so I need to rein in as all my savings are now gone. My budget I'm aiming for this month is £350[/COLOR][/which is nearly half what I've been spending ! Back to home baking and trying to cook one meal not different for the fussy eaters , happy new year!

    Happy New Money-Saving Year!

Just popping on to add a £6.58 spend from Lidl yesterday on fresh items. Also, I used contactless payment for the first time. That was WAY too easy!

Not been visiting MSE for a while but with a new year comes a new resolve:-)

Can you put me down £ 750 for the month please, that's food toiletries etc. for 5 adults and 2 cats with 4 of us with dietary issues.

Battling on with getting back into the habit of meal planning...

I've made a list of the perishables - cheese, eggs, bread, spring onions, mushrooms, spinach, cucumber, baby toms, potatoes, yogurts...

And I've kinda come up with a plan to use them:

Cheese and spring onion buttie for lunch today, Jacket potato with tuna mayo, wilted spinach and spring onion for dinner

Cheesey beans with toast for lunch tomorrow, mushroom omelette for dinner

Then back to work on Tuesday with breakfast being bircher oats with frozen fruit and lunches being half a tub of soft cheese with baby toms and cucumber.

Still no plan for evening meals for the week, but getting there.

NSD today (so far at least).
That sounds like a classic case of premature extrapolation.

Can you put me down for £200 for Jan please - my Jan spend will start on 25th. I've got a little bit left from December - but tons in my freezer/cupboards that need eating down. I'll probably go over a tad - but I've only fresh food to buy. Some of my December spend was on recipe/cooking basics that had run down/out.

I need to do this TODAY! I have a fridge groaning with left overs and a cupboard groaning with left over snacks etc.
Going to list it all later then plan a way to use it all up.

The thing that concerns me the most is the amount of left over cheese so need to start thinking about that, everything from Edam to pickled onion cheddars to brie and boisan (sp?)
I'd normally grate it and freeze it but my freezer is groaning too :rotfl:

Hope these help - http://www.realsimple.com/food-recipes/shopping-storing/food/how-store-cheese - how to store the different cheeses so they keep as long as possible.

    http://www.britishcheese.com/recipes - many ways with cheese :D
