Virgin deal £18 month. Can I ask for this as a current customer paying 2x as much?

Hi just seem on the weekly email that virgin are offering fibre without line rental for £18 a month. Perfect for me except Im already with them and paying £32 a month. This includes line rental which I don't need.
Really annoyed that when I rang regarding another price increase a couple of months ago that they would not budge or offer me the difference of the price increase at least. I know they don't have to and I know I can leave but is there anything I can say to them as I'm planning on ringing them today to ask or this deal. I don't want to leave them as non virgin bb is rubbish in my house.

Thanks

If you are still in contract you have no leverage .If not you say you want to leave as you have been offered the same sort of deal at xxx .
Otherwise if VM raise prices you should be able to cancel penalty free .

Line rental well you need a line to get the broadband down and have to pay for that . Though i believe VM do a no line rental package ( but its the same sort of price )

You're wrong about needing line rental, that only applies if you want a phone line. This deal is for BB only which is why it's so cheap.

For the OP, depending on your minimum term you can but ask them.

Thanks for your replies. I'm out of contract so can leave but I have been on EE, Plusnet before etc and they are all awful-apparently we are far away from the 'whatever its called' and thus have quite slow BB using the phone line method and I'm not a heavy user-surf the net, bit of social media, and watch a few Youtube vids.

I shall give them a ring now and see what they say. I'm sick of price increases with VM.

  • Surely the connection to your house is via BT?

In which case, it should not matter too much who provides the service so long as the exchange and switching equipment operates as quickly as the rest of the network.

Are you 100% sure Virgin's service be faster than anyone else's?

If you leave Virgin, it is possible they will contact you in the Cooling Off period, so you may have to take the chance with another supplier and change while you can. (This happened when I left BT and I now realise I should have cancelled the new contract with my new supplier and accepted BT's last minute alternative offer.)

Incidentally, why is Virgin not willing to put you on a new contract with them? Let me guess, it is because the charge is lower and they will not say so.

If you leave, then it is more likely Virgin will accept you on a new contract because it will get something rather than nothing. So you may have to force the issue.

Virgin media have their own network, they do not use BT at all.

Honestly, the BB via the phone line is shockingly bad-I can't face the thought of going back. VM is def smoother and faster a sthey use their own cables.
Just rang-they can offer me £25.25 a month and cannot offer me the £18 deal as I am not a new customer.

Even the BB only deal is £18 for new customers and £32? after 12 months.

If you get Fibre from another provider that will be a good connection.
I think I saw MSE offering some deals for £21/month.

I'm paying £32.47 now-was hoping to save £168 over 12 months. Will check out other fibre deals-thanks
