Good Morning chums horrible head ache at the moment Build up of catarrh I think.Still taking medicines and by rights should be feeling better, but can't shake off this cough.Stayed away from shops altogether as I have nothing to buy, either foodwise or anything else.DD has insisted she gets all the food this year as she doesn't want me trailing around in the cold. She has the day off today and will do her 'big' family food shopThis morning. I am staying indoors in the warm.
Hope everyone has a good day and gets everything done I am so pleased that I did all the presents and cards last month.I'm just hoping this barking cough will be Saturday.
Take care everyone and keep wrapped up warm if you can.

Hello All, I'm a long time reader, especially in O/S but rarely post. Just feeling like a dark damp day and needed some company.
Today I nipped out to lidl to stock up on the 19p veg. Its not needed for xmas dinner, I'm stocking up on cheap veg and have a meal plan using potatoes, parsnip, sprouts ect in a variety of ways for a couple of weeks. Took a rucksack so could walk comfortably. Only extra I picked up was some cherry tomatoes. I also had a voucher which runs out today for lidl, spend £30, get£5 off so I found an older couple who had a big trolley which looked liked they were feeding a big family for xmas so I gave it to them, good deed done. The veg will be put in hemp bags and kept in a dark cupboard.
I'm stocked up so will avoid the shops until xmas eve when we do the YS run.
Hubby is feeling rough so still in bed, our living arrangments mean I need to stay quiet in the dark till he is up so can't start any housework or sewing I planned.
Looking forward to sunshine coming back for us!0 -
JackieO you are not alone, each time I think I've got rid of the cough and hurting head it starts all over, hope you feel better for a day in the warm.
Coxy, I am sending my best wishes to your family and TA am thinking of your husband today.
I am now free until next year. Have bottomed the bathroom and about to start de-filth operation in the kitchen.
I'm going to make a casserole for later.

Do you have hot lemon and honey? If you have any blackcurrant or bramble jam then a spoonful in hot water can be very soothing for a sore throat. You are quite right to stay in the warm and get yourself better.
My youngest arrives to stay tomorrow night so it will be all systems go!!! She loves my leek and potato soup so I am going to make a big pot of it which she can have with a sandwich or toastie (unless she has stopped off for a burger!) Middle dd is giving her a lift but may not be able to stay.
Meat and veg delivery is due tomorrow and possibly an approved food case with cans of soft drinks, tortilla wraps and taco shells, cans of chopped tomatoes and a few tins of stew, hot pot etc in case of illness and not being up to cooking etc. I even got lemon tea bags.
The only things I might need to get is more parsnips, potatoes, cheese and smoked salmon.

I hope your DH is feeling better today and able to enjoy the celebrations.

Solstice Blessings, one and all!
GWS wishes for all the poorlies - stay warm, put your feet up, and hopefully start to feel better.
(((HUGS))) for those dealing with grief, strife or other stress.
We had our mulled wine out on the patio at sunrise; and spent a while just watching the magpies, pigeons and squirrels in the ancient hedge at the back of us going about their business.
We shall have a celebratory dinner tonight - Mr LW has been detailed to cut the root veg, as I'd like to keep all my fingers.
Other than that, he's identified some films he wants recorded, so I'd better get the $ky box turned on and set those up (or at least the ones that are within the next week - there was a 2-week guide thingy in Saturday's Telegraph). I suggested he mark what he wants with a highlighter, so that I don't miss doing them. Can't say I'm over enthusiastic about sitting through "Chicken Run" yet again, but at least I might get some of my cardigan knitted!
Have a good day, all; we have a bottle of @ldi's finest champers in the fridge, so that's to look forward to later.;)If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
My morning has been productive even if I didn't do any of my present wrapping.
I discovered that I hadn't written up four assessments so did that after bringing in more logs.
Delivery driver brought me my food vacuum sealer machine which I have, of course, been playing with. I'm impressed with it and now got four little packets with two sausages in each! I'll be using rolls instead of the bags I think.
Still waiting for the chest freezer to arrive. The weather here is atrocious so I'm still hoping it gets here.
Woodburner is blazing, the high winds are making the burning fast. Even with the secondary air almost closed I still have too many flames.
Enjoy your champers LW!0 -
LW I'm sure you probably know but years ago on a Michael Woods (love him) programme he said that you could tell the age of a hedgerow by counting the number of different tree and shrub species. Apparently the rule of thumb is that one new species establishes itself every 100 years.0

Chest freezer here. The two delivery men arrived in the middle of a terrible hailstorm and carried it through the front barn, the farmyard through my garden and into the back barn. They got a good tip!
It's now unpacked and, with the help of a friend, the handle is on and it's level. Now waiting the two hours to let the gas calm down. I'll switch it on before going to bed.
Even though it's not very big I don't think I can reach the bottom of it! :rotfl: I'll have to use the log tongs.
Dark and wet here. Hope everyone is safe and well.0 -

Not cheap, but money well spent for the vertically challenged:D
Lousy here as well. Decided against getting cold, wet and blown off my feet at running club. Did car prep instead - snow chains, shovel, yaktrax etc. The Spittal, our route of choice is already closed. Hope you manage to get through 'Rest and be Thankful'Goals - Weight loss 6/26lb at 22nd Jan 18Mmmm. 26lb at 1/7/18. Oops:o0
