Good morning everyone.
The wind howled and the rain lashed down for most of the night. The sky was so clear again that all the stars were out and twinkling away.
My chest freezer is due between 1.00 -5.00pm so I'll spend the morning wrapping presents. I forgot to get tags but they can wait until tomorrow.
The weather forecast for between now and Christmas Day is horrendous - Storm Barbara is coming. Just typical! It means that I may not get down to Glasgow. Last Year we had had eight storms in December, Abigail to Henry, so we've been lucky this year.
Anyway, thanks for the song tru. TA - the panto sounds brilliant, hope your OH feels better today.
No word from JackieO? Hope all's well there.
I'm so pleased about the Solstice today, I know it'll be ages before we see a difference in light but it makes me feel better knowing we're over the hump. Mind you the coldest months are still to come though it's bearable.
Hugs to all. Happy Wednesday.0 -
Yes, I'm another one who is glad to see the solstice, I always feel that we are on the up now, although as you say Gers, the worst weather will still be to come.
I keep an eye on sunrise and sunset times every day. By the middle of January I like to think I can SEE a difference, depending on the weather of course.0 -
TA, I hope your DH feels better today. HH I'd take it easy today if I were you.
My stomach is still gurgling away for some reason although I feel better in myself so hopefully I'll be better by the weekend. It means I'll have lost a few pounds before Christmas, although It wasn't the way I was hoping to do it.
Our new furniture is arriving at some point today along with another delivery I need to sign for so I'm hoping that they will arrive this morning so that I'm not tied to home completely. I have the mince pies to assemble (I've got the pastry and the frangipane topping ready so it shouldn't take long). I managed to ice the cake last night so I'm feeling a bit more organised, we're planning to travel up to Yorkshire tomorrow.0 -
Yule blessings to all x
Well yesterday was spent washing and drying as expected. Managed to get to SM to get non perishables so another thing crossed off the list.
Told DD2 that her rent will be reviewed this month for Jan. She was not happy but it's about time she paid her way more. The money she gives me now just covers her electric and basic food. So all the extras I get (different food when she doesn't like what I cook and leaving her lights on constantly ect) she will have to include.
DH was starting to get on top of things but thanks to what once was a family friend who is sorting fil will and having no morals as they are already trying to overstep the mark before we have buried him he is back to anger mode again.
DD1 and DGD helped me with the shopping yesterday and when it was time for them to leave I thanked dd and the said to DGD thank you for helping me with the shopping . Her reply was your welcome nanny. Lol she is only 3 bless her. She is gonna be so spoilt this year at xmas but she deserves it as she has been the main thing in keeping DH going this last month. His face lights up when she is around and he forgets all the stress as he sits reading or doing puzzles with her .
Off today to a mates as we have a clairvoyant round for a reading. So should be an interesting day.
Anyhoo better get on and sort this house out before I leave.
Hugs to all in need xxBright Blessings xx0 -
LWW I understand just what you mean when you describe the light your DGD brings to your DH. Even when Mr TA has been at his worst with his illness a visit from the DGDs brightens him up no end. Last night at the panto, even though he was having a bad day, it cheered him up a lot when the youngest DGD6 said she wanted to sit next to grandad. Aw bless!"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0

Morning, ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.
OH has a hospital appointment this morning, we are also going in to see my ex. My eldest daughter has been mucking him out at home, her words not mine, she said I would be appaled if I had seen it, she was back yesterday finishing off.
My favourite hand bag fell to bits yesterday, the strap fell off, not sure if I can fix it.
Our neighbours wedding anniversary has not started well, the Dr has just arrived..........oh dear..............
Its a dry morning, thank heavens the nights will start drawing out from now on, I am always pleased when we are past 21st December, I can look forward to the days getting longer. I know we may get bad weather in the next couple of months, but at least I know eventually it will clear and I will be able to hang laundry out to dry and it will dry, not come in wetter than when it went out.
The pork casserole I did last night was delicious. I have enough in the freezer for another supper. I like the belly pork from Aldi and Lidl, they take the skin off.
Business girl, we had to take ourselves by the scruff of the neck and really draw our horns in to pay off debts, it took time and was not easy but we won in the end. This board is wonderful for support, there are also other forums you could look at that will help.
Time to go and check how much money is in the bank, it will be pension day tomorrow as Monday is a bank holiday.0 -
Morning everyone, thanks for the thread Hester, I hope you have a restful day xx
Sorry to hear MrTA wasn't well yesterday. Hopefully just a one off xx Glad you enjoyed the panto
Dumpling - that made me laugh about unearthing the stocking - could've been a referring to anyone of my three children!
Off again today. I will be wrapping a few presents then taking them to my sisters house. She is really struggling at the moment and will not be having Christmas lunch this year. Her and the family may come up to ours in the evening but it's not definite. Funeral is next week, so she is totally consumed by the arrangements and the worry. I will take her and my dad out for lunch if she's up to it.
Dinner tonight will be pork chops I think - bought yesterday and taking up loads of space in the fridge (quite why the SM packaging has to be so large is beyond me...I should go to a butcher really).
Have a good day all, and Gers, don't get blown away brrrr!

Coxy, I can't even begin to think what your sister is going through at the moment, my thoughts are with her and all your family.0

Well I have heard from DD, they arrived safe and well in New Delhi and thankfully they have hired a driver (the car has wifi so she has been whatsapping me) she says the traffic is crazy.0

Morning all,
I think we have the very beginnings of storm Barbara on the way, its a bit blowy atm but meant to get worse.
Poorly dog has had his pills and porridge and has now gone back to sleep, he has to have a chemo pill at lunch time today  bless him he must rattle with pills !
Yesterday I deep cleaned the downstairs loo, utility room and kitchen, hopefully they will just need a swish and swipe on xmas eve morning, today we are going to do the conservatory lounge and study, I really don't want to be deep cleaning on Christmas eve !
Dinner tonight will be the mince we did not eat yesterday, I really could not be bothered to cook so we had fish and chips, will do a spag bol for tonight.
Hugs to you coxy I cant imagine what your poor sister is going through xx
Hilstep hope you are ok xx
Have good days all xx0
