I must admit, I'm an impatient pedestrian, but if I bump into a person walking along the street I know I won't get killed or have to pay out for damage.

. I was overtaken on a roundabout today- single carriageway entry and exit, view to the right completely blocked by a lorry's rear end sticking out. I had slowed to make sure there was nothing coming; as I pulled out the impatient driver came roaring around me from behind and cut me up as I was crossing. It made my heart beat a little faster for sure, but I'd always rather this type of driver were ahead of me than behind.

I have seen something similar, someone impatient with a lorry on a roundabout.

Apart from the potential for carnage what bothers me about this kind of behaviour is how unnecessarily stressful it makes driving on roads which are made stressful enough by the amount of traffic.

    Why?
Doesn't sound like op needs one

We would all probably benefit from a Defensive Driving Course. Even those who think they have nothing more to learn about driving would probably learn a few useful lessons.

Top athletes and top tennis players etc still use a coach or a team of coaches on an almost daily basis. They never stop learning and never stop trying to improve even when at the top of their game.

I did a course in about 1992 and then another one a few years later with my wife. I learned a hell of a lot on both courses. I probably should book another refresher course now 20 years later.

So am I although one day you or I might be unlucky enough to bump into the wrong person.

People have been killed by strangers for less than that.

IWhen im stuck behind a dawdler I get absolutely tampin mad. For this reason it is often safer to drive faster, within reason.

I get angry about people being slow in queues (be it supermarkets or department stores). For this reason, it is safer for me to be rude and push to the front EVERY time.

I thought that as I typed my post - so many nutters wandering and driving around these days, so I guess we would all do well to try and curb our impatience.

Happens a fair bit round here, if they want to drive like that then up to them.
  • Ofcourse these inconsiderate pedestrian "dawdlers" may have just had a surgery or recovering from a fall or heaven forbid may be slightly infirm due to the heinous crime of getting old!

    Hope your parents are well!

Yesterday morning I was in a 30 zone when someone was right up my backside for a couple of miles.

Would've preferred they'd overtaken me (where safe to do so, and they had plenty of chances) but they decided they'd follow me closely instead.

Just glad I didn't have to slam my brakes on...

I dated someone once and they had road rage (they lost their rag). Needless to say once the other bloke stepped out of the car he soon backed down!

Patience is a virtue. I'd rather get there a few seconds/minutes late rather than not get there at all.

try setting your watch a few minutes fast then you are more likely to arrive on time even with several dawdlers in front of you

    ****in nobs!

Im not condoning dangerous behavior. Just stating the mindset that some people end up in, which causes them to do mad things. Its a good idea to try to mitigate the risks by yielding.
Sometimes my advice may not be great, but I'm not perfect and I do try my best. Please take this into account.
