Brand new evoque delivered but had accident on the way to me
Hi please please can someone give me advice, I have leased a brand new evoque we got a delivery date but the morning of it being delivered we were told that a stone had hit the windscreen and needed to be taken back to the dealer to be fixed. I thought they were something wrong as it took them 5 hours to tell me if it was a chip or new screen. I finally was told by the lease company that it needed we screen. It took 2 weeks to be fixed which I didn’t believe this would take that long. After lots of chasing they then told me that the new windscreen wasn’t heating up so needed a part. I know have found out by my car insurance they have been chasing me for an accident that happened on the day it was meant to be delivered. I have now worked out it was in a crash and they have lied to me took it back to the dealership got it fixed and have now delivered it to me without telling me any of this! I’m so cross where do I stand???

The lease company crashed their car ??? If you look at all the cars on Bristol Docks you should know there is a body shop there to fix all the dents and dings etc in transit.
If I was buying it , I would send it straight back, leased, I would request to see the level of damage. It suffered. They will have records. List of new parts etc.0 -

This is the point, if it's a lease then you don't own the car, your renting it. It's not your car, it never will be and like any rental, the history of the vehicle is none of your business.
Basically.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Basically.
I would still want them to acknowledge the extent of the damage and the remedial work undertaken. I'd hate to have to explain why it had inadequate accident repairs at the end of the lease. You can pick your friends and you can pick your nose but you can't pick your friend's nose.0 -
Strider590. Whilst we are broadly in agreement. A lease car is different to a hire car in that the OP is going to drive it for 3 years and most likely their family. Knowing it had been in an accident you would want to know the extent. I suspect minor if it was two weeks.0

The impression im getting is that OP isn't happy that the car has been in an accident, in the same way you'd be p1ssed if it were a brand new car you'd just bought outright. People do see these cars as belonging to them, even when they clearly don't, the difference between aspiration and reality.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

The OP needs something that will prevent the lease company stinging him for "repairs" to "damage" caused before he even took delivery.
For all he knows the repair was a backstreet bodge and might look good today, but require rework in 3 years time.I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

Why are the insurance company chasing you? The accident happens before you took delivery so really should be nothing to do with you.0 -
I totally understand I don't own the car I'm just cross that it was all done in secret and I was lied to and worried that if something happens in 6 months time due to an accident I didn't know about where I stand. I have googled some answers but have the right to ask for a new car as it's not been delivered in brand new condition as stated0

Don't you normally have the option of declining the car, cancelling the agreement within a certain time? I think that might be an option right now0

It's very rare for any car to leave the factory without needing cosmetic repairs, so in reality there is no true "brand new condition". It's more of an emotional statement than a practical one, if that makes sense?“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”
