Confused what the actual price of fibre internet would be? Advice..

Hi guys I realised my bill for sky unlimited is around £33 a month! I thought it was about £23 but seems with the added extras it is the first price.
By the way everything except the line rental and broadband is a waste of money since I don't even use the phone except for the internet.
Look at my latest bill
I kept getting loads of mail from them encouraging me to sign up I just threw it away without looking carefully since I wasn't interested at the time.
I work online though so the faster my internet the more earning potential. So I am wondering if I could get some better speeds for the same sort of price I pay now?
It is supposed to be 20 mbit but the actual readings on speedtest are 12megs download and 1mbit upload. The upload is the most important one I need to improve since I do alot of work with video uploading (or would if I had better internet
). So bearing that in mind in terms of the best package what could you all recommend?
I am looking on uswitch but I am confused whether I need to pay addition hefty line rental fee or not for the fibre. Some offers are saying that the line rental is free but I don't know if it is a sucker move to get you in then they whack you with a big additional monthly fee.
Thoughts?
My upload speed in actuality is usually only about 100k which is really not effective for heavy usage and it blocks the whole connection. I need way more than that. I have hired servers in the past for this kind of work which have really super 1gig internet speed but it costs alot for good hardware. On the other hand my home comp has great hardware but bad internet so I am trying to figure out if getting nice internet here would be more cost effective.
Doesn't have to be the fibre either if there are offers which would be cheaper than sky for better regular broadband. Just wanna weigh my options.

I am wondering how much that would cost?

If you don't use the actual phone (you need the line to carry the internet, even if you go for fibre) why are you paying for a calls package and 1571 ?
You are wasting £5.25 a month.
Line rental is not free, unless someone did a special deal and the new all in one prices, over most providers, have been an opportunity to add an average £5 to the total, though their publicity suggests that they are doing us all a favour by combining the prices .
Some stupid people demanded the combination as they were convinced that a headline broadband price with small print saying you need to take the provider's line rental to get the deal was conning them, but this is rubbish as they were quite aware of the condition, though probably hoped the combination would mean a reduced price (the opposite being the case)0 -
Because I had no idea about it.
The evening and weekends thing used to be free and it seems it is not any more so it was given to me automatically when I signed up and I guess they stopped it being free.
I haven't looked at the dashboard for a long long time.0 -

Neither item has been free for well over a year and you should have had messages offering to let you drop them without penalty.0 -
A quick review of uSwitch says that there is:
Plusnet
Up to 38Mb
Unlimited Downloads
18mnth contract
£27.50/mnth + £6.50 setup fee
Plus, TopCashBack deal of £34.50
= £25.16 over 18 months
Nearly double the speed for the same price. Upload on any broadband should be far more than 1Mb, you should at the least query the issue with Sky and check for a fault on the line.
You could get your current speed through TalkTalk for just over £18/mnth on a 24-month contract using the current £115 TCB offer.
Alternatively, they offer a 24-month 38Mb service for just over £28 with cashback considered.
And on the 'superfast' broadband side of things:
You can get superfast, 76Mb internet from Vodafone for just under £34/month.
All of the above take extra fees (setup etc.) into account of the pricing. You could get 4x the speed for the same price.

Oh crap. Thanks for the rundown I shall investigate further.
Yes a one off fee is not so bad it was just the hidden line rental fees I was concerned about.
I doubt there is anything wrong with my line as the current speed is the INCREASED speed after they installed a new main socket. It was constantly cutting out for a couple of years until then.
so to confirm...the prices you state above, and those quoted on uswitch have the line rentals included in the price they show on their results page?
EDIT: I have an option for bt infinity fibre which is 29.99 month withUpfront costs BT Home Hub 4 delivery£9.99Infinity activation £50.00 Monthly payments Months 1-12 BT Unlimited Infinity£11.00BT Weekend CallsFREELine rental £18.99 Total£29.99 Average monthly cost Over the 12 month contract period, including line rental & upfront costs if applicable £34.99
Is that better than the vodafone one or the same?
EDIT2: ah You say vodaphone offers 76 megs eh. Hmm well that would beat BT who are only offering 54 here.
Oh yes I see the voda offerUpfront costs Fibre Activation Fee £49.00 Installation£60.00 Monthly payments Months 1-18 Unlimited fibre 76 £28.00 TelephoneFREE Total£28.00 Average monthly cost Over the 18 month contract period, including line rental & upfront costs if applicable

Yes. The "going rate" for new Fibre BB contracts is £25-27 with Vodafone, Talktalk or Plusnet, including line rental where required. Similar for Sky and a bit more for BT.
One of the trends from the recent price shuffle is that the difference in price between Fibre and ADSL (normal BB) has reduced.0 -
Are you still on a contract? If you are you would have to finish it first.
If you are close to the end of your contract or out of contract then have you tried haggling for a better plan yet?
How long you been with Sky? You could use that to bargain against them.
If you want a package best for uploading, you ideally want the 40/10, 52/10 or 76/20 package.
If you looking at the 76/20, you may want to look whether your line is capable to provided that service. You can check by entering your address on this link:

I couldn't get the checker to work with either the address or phone checker. It said they aren't found.
Ah I just found out from my concierge that what they recently installed in my building is called 'hyperoptic'. So how does this fit into the equation?
https://www.hyperoptic.com/
Are they independent from BT then? it seems so...
The offers don't seem as good as the vodaphone one quoted above. They state 27 p/m for first 6 months for 100mbit then they whack it up to 38 a month thereafter.
Could anyone else elabourate on the difference. I mean does the fact that there is hyperoptic in my building have any bearing on the deals I may want from other providers stated above? or are all the companies independant in terms of whether they will install the fibre to the building? It isn't like one broadband for all which you would get from BT IIRC like it used to be?
Hmm there is a broadband only offer for £17.50 for 6 months then £35 a month https://www.hyperoptic.com/residential-package/?broadband-only=true
That would be the one quid more than the vodaphone and for 100 megs! and the setup fees seem alot lower too.
If someone could confirm I haven't missed anything that would be cool.

Hyperoptic are good if you interested in having 100mbit down and upload or true gigabit down and upload. You do pay a bit more for this type of service. The standard package is average as you could potentially get a better deal elsewhere if your line is good enough for ADSL2. Note that it is cap to 20mb download and 1 mb upload for the standard.
You could potentially try to bargain with Hyperoptic's offers but probably won't mean much if you asking other providers other then sky.0 -

Well as I mentioned in the last post it is 34 a month for 100mbit so that is only one quid more than vodaphone no? unless there are some fees I missed?
I already know it is available in my building because they were sending me advertising letters every other week when it came in.
