    CORBYN'S INCOME CAP

    In principle I agree with limiting earnings, but I wonder if it will fall flat when pitted against real world situations, namely;

+ What happens when Russell Brand reaches his cap, does his stage tour end?

+ Stephen Fry / Jimmy Carr wont appear on stage / TV once their annual wage cap is reached?

+ World tours by The Rolling Stones or Motorhead will end once a salary cap is reached?

What will be the knock-on effects on roadies, producers, make-up artists etc?

It might be theoretically possible to put a cap on UK earnings but I don't see how he plans to control what income people can generate overseas.

It will be interesting to see what all of those Labour supporting luvvies in the arts, sport and entertainment think of a income cap.

In the past income caps in Britain have been imposed via the tax system so above a certain level of income you are taxed at a marginal rate of 100% or even more.

The Rolling Stones went to France(!) to escape punitive British taxes as I recall.

A Motorhead world tour looks highly unlikely.
Don't blame me, I voted Remain.

Jezza seems very confused in his BBC interview

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-38561501
Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn has told the BBC he stands by his view that immigration to the UK is not too high.

In a speech on Brexit later he is due to say that Labour is not "wedded" to the idea of freedom of movement.

But he told Laura Kuenssberg that he was not proposing new restrictions on the rights of people to move to the UK.

Instead he wanted an end to foreign workers being exploited in the UK under EU employment rules, which, he said, would "probably" cut numbers.

Err... so immigrations isn't too high, he doesn't want new restrictions but he isn't committed to free movement and thinks treating immigrants better would "probably" reduce their numbers.

If there's one thing that should make new-old labour wake up to reality it's shambolic performances like this morning's.

I think you'll find that all the Corbyn/Labour party lovies will quickly find a friendly tax haven or two.
Principles, after all, are for others as Abbot, Chakrabarti et al would say

You are shooting at an open goal and can't miss but at least get you facts right if you are going to have a pop. When challenged he didn't want to put a cap on immigration numbers and why should he.....look what has happened to the present Govmt's promises re. immigration. He said immigration is likely to reduce naturally however if undercutting wages and the use of gang masters and cheap labor was stopped by Govmt i.e we are all subject to the same labor conditions and unscrupulous employers are stopped from using cheap labor from abroad. Nothing wrong with that if you are being fair!

Do you agree with his maximum wage idea?

If so why? And what consequences/outcomes do you see as a result?

The left love to remind us migrants apparently do all the low paid work 'we wont do', and yet those income levels pay no or little tax....

As I say majority of migrant Tenant enquiries the letting agents I know get are on HB, no matter where in the country

I get enquires for business finance every day from self employed migrants that cannot easily access terms as they pay little or no tax, many more or less do not exist - all people in my line of work know this market - it's endemic. Very few amongst these people would ever get engaged by a semi authority figure that wants to ask them questions about their income and benefits
