If you have mirrors that rotate far enough, a good tip is to reflect the beam from the car behind you back into their eyes:cool:0 -

Assuming that you are not blinding anyone else, why wouldn't you want as much light as possible when driving in the dark?
Full beam makes only makes sense if there are almost no vehicles coming the other way otherwise you end up having to keep switching from main beam to full beam every few seconds.0 -

Its a bit like those decicions about lane switching on a motorway - some people lane hop all the time to gain a few seconds and some dip and main every few seconds. there is no advantage in reverting to main beam just for a few seconds only to have to dip again0 -

Oh, I don't know. I think the few seconds of extra visibility to assess hazards is quite advantageous, personally.0 -

If it helps me see and understand the layout of the road in front then it seems very sensible to use main beam when possible (ie when not annoying others).0 -
A lot of cars now come with automatic full beam dipping.
I have even heard of some which don't dip the full beam, but "shadow" out the oncoming vehicle so they are not dazzled whilst still maintaining full illumination.0 -

Looks very impressive but I dread to think of the cost of getting it replaced or repaired if it goes faulty.
I would be interested how it would react to a cyclist - it would probably dismiss the cyclist as not worthy of not being blinded.0
