Best way to prove that someone is alive?

Hello,
I need to find out that someone is alive. It's my sisters partners mum. He's said that she is dead just as my sister met him, but also told someone else exactly the same several years ago. So it's very likely it's just a lie - either the timing or that shes dead at all.
There is no death certificate at all that I can find for her. Is there a way I can find out for sure that she is alive?
thanks

May be worth paying to do a search on 192.com however if there was a rift it may be that to him she is dead and this is his way of stopping any well meaning person trying to force contact.
Why do you need to know .
Has your sister asked you to do this ?I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

Do you suspect he has some motive for lying about her being dead that will somehow be of detriment to your sister?
How long was the gap between the two times he told people she had 'just' died? That can still be true a week after or several years after.0 -
I think he's manipulative and a liar. I know for a fact he lied about his age as he said he was ten years younger than he really was for the first year they saw each other. He's just been sent away to prison for the second time, for several years.
The mums just died was said twice about 3 years apart.
My sister still trusts him and all that he has said and believes he is innocent. A court doesn't send someone away for years with no evidence. She tries to see the best in people, but I think he's taking her for a ride. I'm just trying to build up a bit of evidence to hopefully show to her how he hasn't been truthful and she can make her own mind up.0 -
Unless your sister is at risk of harm from him - and as he has been given a prison sentence for "several years" there is little danger there - you should keep your nose out of your sister's business until she asks for your help.0

Best to keep out unless you want to fall out with your sister. Often people "shoot the messenger"I am not a cat (But my friend is)0 -

Search the births, marriages and deaths register?
Does it actually matter though, someone can be dead to someone and they just say they're dead.0 -

I would, and I'd consider you at more risk than sister if you interfere.I am not a cat (But my friend is)0 -

Well then the person is either 'missing' or alive, or has died abroad and for whatever reason this hasn't been updated.0
