  • Good morning

    How is everyone doing?

I have just got annoyed reading the paper, the budget is so so bad.

There was a lady it seemed in an article gloating how much better she was gunna be with the benefit changes.

800-900 pm increase for her and her 5 kids
2700 pm in benefits neither work.

Its nice too see where mine and the missus's taxes are gonna go. (high rate tax payer)

Well my lil update its just a small one while our lil 2 foot gaffer sleeps. She had her last set of injections until she is one yesterday, its being a fun night 🙄

She is asleep on me as i lie doing surveys. She is on hard stuff Calpol.

I am on my days off till Saturday night, then we get more work news. At the minute its so up in the air but my department is getting cut massively. I am waiting for the redundancy calculator getting released 😉

    re anything else to report

My o/h is driving again yay no more chauffeur duties and she seems much much happier now she is. She has her independance back abit.

Survey wise i did a few last night on curious cat and cashed out at £1.45.

So thats more into my revolut pots which are now each earning a few pence interest per day. Revolut is cool interest is paid daily and 3.5 percent is much better than 3 percent i was getting on Monzo.

No vinted sales but i have a few things peeps are making me daft offers on.

total survey and extras since 7/10/25

    £168.07

I’m sorry it’s late but congratulations on the birth of your daughter. Glad to hear she and your Mrs are doing well.

My biggest regret is not being there for my son’s early years or supporting my wife when he was really little. They don’t stay young for long. Enjoy every moment mate.

Hi mate I hope your doing okay?

My lil girl is lush she is nearly crawling, loads of smiles and she is nearly talking she makes loads of cute cooing noises. Our journey was hard but worth it.

I am trying too re our lil one re time.

I have some tough decisions to make re work. We are going through a consultation period @work we have 2 of 4 choices too make by Tuesday.

Apply for a new night shift role, same hours slightly higher salary but its gunna be double the work with less staff. Going from 40 staff ish to 15-18

Go to days, lose over 2 years a gradual decreaee in unsocial hours. And an immediate 5 percent pay cut. I get the best part of 6000 py for doing nights. And the day time roles are all back steps career wise with !!!!!! hours. ie in a day off one in four off one etc etc. I currently do 4 on 4 off nights. Days are one weekend off a month, hardly ever 2 days off together.

Or leave and take 45000 redundancy thats after tax and work till May then 3 months gardening leave.

Redundancy so i can spend some quality time with the Two Foot Gaffer is very very appealing. But i am in my mid 40's thats my only concern, ie finding another job.

Or apply for other roles that are higher bands like TL/trainer etc etc

My head is done in. One role i have till the 3rd to get an application in, another i am looking at the 11th.
  • Back too nights for me. Nothing massively to report bar i have had a stressy night at work last night 2.5 too go.

I have cv's/cover letters to do but didnt get two mins to breath last night.

Me and my o/h are not the greatest as our lil girl wont sleep more than 90mins on a night now. She was going 5-6 hours sleep regression yay 🙄 We are arguing a lot as she is exhausted i am shattered permeantly and stressed to bits.

I have sold one more item on vinted 5 quid and received cashback from chase

    5quid

Is that £45,000 redundancy ??? If so I can see why that is tempting.

I guess alot depends on other oppurtunities in your area - If you decide to try and keep your role and are unsuccessful in the restructure , do you still get the same redundacy?
  • It is

There is a new nights role we can go for which is similar to my role with some bits added some bits of my former role going offshore. Hours are similar but a big salary uplift.

We could go for other days roles but i opted out of this as the roles were backsteps.

Or we were told we could apply for other company roles.

If unsuccessful in the first role and if we didnt find another role yes redundancy is there.

I am at the point I have had enough in my career with this company i have being through this process 3 times now.

Finance company and economics not people is the thing. We have 85 staff going for 15-20 roles, trying to go for days roles. And guess how many have gone long term sick since the announcement?

If you got the 45k how long would that give you to find another job? Are there jobs in your field for different companies out there? If so I'd be tempted to ride it out for redundancy as that gives you options such as training in something else.

I hope you have been able to make a decision that is good for you.  It's always about this time of year that consultations and organisational change start in order to implement from the new financial year.  I worked in HR for years and it always seemed such rubbish timing especially issuing 3 months notice on 1st January - happy new year (not!)

does your workplace have Trade Union reps?

Same at my workplace unfortunately, people leave every week now and it's going to continue for now. It was similar at my previous one as well. We know there is a wee restructure coming in my team in Q1 but who knows when exactly and what will happen.

Let us know what happens, fingers crossed for positive outcome in whatever you decide!
