Thanks for all the input folks. I guess I am just not very savvy about credit these days. I will stress that I didn't write or email directly to the CEO; I had a very condescending reply email from a customer service adviser regarding an issue I had and, in response to that, I replied to her and copied him in. This diverted it to the Executive Office and I was then contacted by one of those "Executives" who took over dealing with the case. I just believe that the captain of the ship needs to know what is going on below decks sometimes otherwise they will think the world is full of smiling, happy customers. I was told that he does see the emails - I took that with a giant pinch of salt, I'm only naive, not a fool! With regard to credit accounts, I don't have enough of them to cause an issue I don't think - I mainly keep credit limits low by choice.I suspect I don't fit the "normal" pattern of a shopper. I tend to buy what I need rather than what I fancy. I did all that stuff when I was younger but my outlook has changed a lot since I retired. I was lucky enough to retire at 50 (by choice) relying on my own initiative until of official retirement age. Anyway, I've wasted enough of people's time. Thanks to you all. Now I do what OH told me to do, move on and forget the wounded pride bit... get over it Me_ma!!! By the way pre pay cards sound good, I will investigate.
Merry Christmas all and good wishes for 2017

You'd save heaps more money by ditching Sainsburys, even with their rewards and points, and shopping at Aldi or Lidl.0 -
Sadly, I don't have a Lidl near me (live in a village), Aldi is a 20 mile round trip away, Morrisons and Ocado don't deliver in my area (or I'd have them like a shot) so I am limited to Sainsburys, Tesco, Asda and Waitrose. I do prefer home delivery, even though you have the substitution issues etc. Thanks for the replyYou'd save heaps more money by ditching Sainsburys, even with their rewards and points, and shopping at Aldi or Lidl.

The Osper card might be an idea? It's meant for teenagers - but in my view if you wanted something even less attractive to someone to steal (as you can't use it to buy certain things or services) then this might be one? This is the MSE article on pre-paid cards
