JVR thank you SO much, I've passed that on. You're a gem, really.
SA & SSG thank you both! I wasn't sure I wanted it even as I was interviewing for it but clearly I managed to hide that :rotfl: I'm sure it's going to be really great, I'm happy.
And yes I think my mum is happy, she's getting to the point now where she could really do with finding something, so I have everything crossed for her!

Hello world!
Quick update from me:
Lodger #1 had some excellent news at the weekend; I can't really go into details for anonymity reasons but I'm super happy for him. That was a really lovely start to the weekend
Lodger #2 (B) has also moved in, so I am awash with teenagers at present. But the move-in went really well, easily the smoothest one I've had so far and she seems super delightful. It's been a really good weekend overall on the charity front, and has totally eradicated concerns I had left over from the break in the other week.
Other Good Things:
- My dad had good news re his pension, which I'm hoping will drop his stress levels significantly. I don't know if I've ever mentioned this but his wife is terminally ill, and although she seems reasonably healthy at the moment he has been really hoping he can drop his hours at work so spend more time with her. Now, hopefully, we know this will be possible.
- My mum is going on holiday this week, which will be REALLY good for her, and she also has about four interviews booked in for the week she gets back, so I've got my fingers crossed for her.
- My friends with the Home Office fandango currently ongoing are... well, the fandango is still ongoing, but I spoke to my friend for over an hour on the phone last night and they are really thinking positively. They've made sensible decisions about how far down the judiciary appeals route they're willing to go, and they've made a plan for what to do if that doesn't work. I think they both just feel better for having a response from the Home Office, even though it was definitely not the one they wanted - at least this way they can take some action, instead of constant waiting.
Overall, a pleasant start to the week. I hope everyone else is having one of those too!Mortgage: £83,000

Ok world, it's SUNDAY!!!
So I have good news and bad-ish news. I'll kick off with the good news, I think...
I DID MY FIRST ASSIGNMENT!! It's due in tomorrow by 5pm, and I still need to do a tiny fiddle with the reference list and format the appendices (that'll take me half an hour tomorrow morning I reckon) but there was a point halfway through last week that I really thought I wasn't going to get it done, so I'm super proud.
It feels like it's not the finest piece of academic writing I've ever produced, but I'm not going to stress about it because I've promised myself not to get disappointed if I only get a 'pass' on this course, because it's for work and not for pleasure. I got a Distinction in the MA I did through choice, and I've always achieved quite well academically so that was a hard thing to say to myself, but I can't put that much pressure on myself while I'm also working full time and doing the charity work as well. Plus, no one ever asks me what I got in my MA so I assume it will be the same with my PgDip!!
Ok, so, the less-good news... I mean, it's not the worst news in the world but it's a change. I broke up with my boyfriend on Thursday night. It was the right thing to do, and neither of us got upset or anything. I'm not really sad about it now, but I suspect that might be because I've been too busy with my assignment to think about it. We'll see what this next week brings.
Anyway, onto more MSE news:
- This week I will be mainly... eating my way through my freezer. I want to start doing forward meal planning but that will require me to free up some freezer space in the interim, AND it means I don't need to do a shop this week.
- I've found out when my promotion pay will begin, which is 21st October. That's good, I'm going to use the extra to do my Christmas shopping at the beginning of November before it gets subsumed into my normal budget.
Hope everyone has a lovely week!! (And if anyone felt inclined, PLEASE don't worry about me, it was a very amicable break up and I'm feeling ok)Mortgage: £83,000

Hi JW - well done on your assignment. :j. I'm sure youll get more than a pass, but if not - heigh ho a pass is all you need!:D
Good idea on the freezer and :j to the extra Xmas shopping funds!
Won't hark on about the breakup but you both appear to have been very sensible. Of course if you feel you need to put thoughts down in your diary this week, we'll all be here to listen.
