Hello!
The last few weeks and months have been really strange and somewhat stressful, all of which came to a head over the weekend as my stepmother passed away on Sunday morning.
I'm feeling a bit lost at the moment, not out of grief as my stepmother and I had a relationship that was more friendly than loving, but I need to support my dad and I'm really not sure how at the moment. This could well be something that means I sell my house to move closer to him, which in turn will impact my charity work.
As I'm sure you can imagine, dating, dieting and debts are 3 things I've focused on much less recently. I'm not sure if this diary will be an appropriate thread for me until I know what's happening with my job and my dad, but in case I do vanish for a time properly I want to say the biggest thank you to everyone who's followed and commented - your support has meant an awful lot to me.Mortgage: £83,000

Hi JWPopps,
I joined MSE a few weeks ago and have been reading through some of the diaries since. I've enjoyed seeing that I'm not the only person in this boat and I find it encouraging that we are all on the same page.
I'm not much of a commenter so far but wanted to offer my sincere condolences on your stepmum's passing. I know that you need to be there for your dad during this difficult time and that taking a break from the diary is necessary to do that. I am subscribed so I do hope to see you back again.
Good luck with the debt busting in the meantime.

Hi JW - good to see you back
I'm so very sorry to hear the sad news of your stepmother and hope your poor dad is coping under the circumstances. I know you will be there for him all the way as you are such a good, kind girl
It's still early days yet to be thinking of making drastic choices like moving - let things settle first. It's understandable that you've other things on your mind than debt busting etc but you can still post on your diary here if you need to record your feelings. We'll all be here to listen and offer help if we can.

Sorry to hear about your stepmum. I echo what SSG says - you need to let the dust settle before you make any drastic decisions. I'm sure you will find a way to support your dad without compromising your own life. Remember you are important too xxI get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0
