Hi SSG,
It did, but I need the charity to get in touch today because tomorrow marks the end of the 2 weeks and there are some massive pros and cons to her staying longer that need to be worked out...
Back at work and it's surprisingly ok, I think all the pre-prep I did has worked out! Just waiting for the charity to pay me either today or tomorrow and I should be able to do a *gulp* post-Christmas round up....Mortgage: £83,000
Credit Card Debt: £1,700
Loan Debt: £3,0000 -
....yeah, I don't change much :rotfl:
Still, it's always a good time for reflection isn't it? This will be a long one I fear...
These were my goals For December:
- Clear out my wardrobe: Made a start on this, but there's a LOT more to do...
who knew I owned so much stuff?!
- Look into the daily cleaning rota thingie: I cleaned my entire house on NYE (party animal, I know...) and it's blissfully clean. However, with 2 teenagers that doesn't last long so I'm going to buy the book 2 of you have very kindly recommended!!
- Edit my novel (it would be nice, really...): LOL no, this did not happen.
But it was nice to have so many social plans, so I don't feel like I wasted my time off.
- Start meal planning again: Made a start; I'm going to try fasting again because it certainly worked for me last time.
- Buy the rest of the Christmas presents: Well I wouldn't be particularly popular if I hadn't managed this...
- Chill out and feel ready for the new year!!!: Achieved!! Had a little romantic disappointment, but aside from a day of moping about that I really loved my time off and am now back at work feeling refreshed!
Financial Round Up!
Credit card post-Christmas: £882.80
Loan: £6,052.36
Mortgage: £86,483.81
Savings:
Emergency Fund: £50
Holiday/Nice Things Fund: £50
'Other' (swept up from the oddments left in my main account): £86.48
I've set up a £50 per month standing order to both of those two savings accounts, and I opened them with a different bank to discourage me from using them. The oddments saver is in my normal bank, and I suppose that's my 'too much month at the end of the money' fund, but with the idea that I'd like not to spend it if I don't have to.
2018 Goals!
- Pay off loan
- Pay off credit card
.........................................both of those are things I wanted to do in 2017 but never mind, eh? Things happen, stuff cropped up and where are we if we lose sight of our goals?
- Lose weight.
.......................................this one is important. As this is an anonymous website I have no problems admitting that my BMI currently sits at 37, making me very obese. It's frustrating because people around me say they can't believe I'm that heavy and I look fine etc etc but actually, this is about how I feel about my body, and what I need for my health. If I lose 3 stone-ish, I can get that BMI down to 30, which would be incredible.
It's an added bonus that fasting makes my grocery shopping cheaper
Goals for January/February
- Sort out a practical debt-repayment model, based on the SOA I did at the end of 2017.
- Get my routine in place relating to my diet plan and my house cleaning
- Work out what's going on with the 2nd placement...
....On that final point: the 2 week placement has been extended a further 2 weeks, largely because Social Services haven't got another feasible option for this young person. Also, she's savvy enough to know she needs to follow the rules or else she'll be shipped off elsewhere.
I don't know if I'll have her longer, I'd need to sort out some practicalities. That's something else we shall wait and see about!Mortgage: £83,000

Your goals sound really sensible JW.
I know you’ve posted on my diary about my own weight ambitions so I think we’ll be trotting along in tandem on this one!:)

Hi SSG,
You're right there! I'm not starting my fasting yet (and i might not even go back to that, I haven't decided) - for the next month my goal is to cut in-between snacks, so I get used to 3 meals a day at fairly standard times, and I'm trying to make sure those meals are healthy. That's to get me back out of the Christmas habits!! Then we'll see what Step Two is...Mortgage: £83,000

The snacking is always a problem. I’m a terrible chocoholic. I can quite easily live without alcohol (although I do really enjoy it!), but chocolate is another thing entirely! Oh and cheese........:DFinally Debt Free! - July 2016 🌟

My downfall is red wine, food wise I love healthy food and would happily just eat vegetables and nothing else - seriously. When I needed to lose weight several years ago, I joined WeightWatchers which has kept me on the straight and narrow - it's the thought of being weighed and being told I've gained that scares me, plus the thought of having to pay. Anyway it worked for me and I've got zero willpower - and I can still have my red wine!I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0

I mean... I have literally just started dating a vegan... I'm pretty sure I'll lose weight if I let him keep cooking for me haha!!Mortgage: £83,000

Ha!
Don't get excited guys, we've only been on 3 dates... he lives a 2 hour drive from me, but he has a 4 year old with his ex and they live not far from me at all so he's in the area a lot as it is.
I'm not rushing into anything, you can be sure of that!!Mortgage: £83,000
