I'm in a quandary now.
My original wedding ring wasn't comfortable and I took it off a lot and lost it about a year after the marriage. The one we bought to replace it is far more comfortable and has never been off my finger for 30 years - it's the second one that's my true wedding ring0 -
Sold mine to pay the rates (or Council Tax as we call it now) when I was broke. Mind you, it was after we'd split up so you could say there wasn't the emotional attachment.0

My son lost his, bought a replacement, then found the original. This seems to work with all kinds of things such as small kitchen items (at the moment, I can't find the measuring spoon for my breadmaker), pens, tweezers and small dog combs, for us.
As my mum's finger became thicker with age, she took to wearing my grandma's ring. I, too, was wearing my husband's until recently (finger gone thinner), but he wasn't wearing his anyway, as doing jobs such as on the car, damaged the surface (it being softer 22 carat gold).0 -
When I got married I had already predicted that I would somehow lose the ring, and the wife would go crazy. What I did was to order two identical rings, with identical personalised engraving on the inside of the band - then if I ever do lose one I have an identical replacement ready to go. It helped that the rings I bought were plain titanium bands which only cost about £20 each.
Of course my planning paid off, and I've never even come close to losing the original ring!0 -
How did he lose it? In the earlier days of our marriage my DH used to be a b*gger for sliding it off his finger, fiddling around with it and then dropping it. Fortunately he mostly did this at home so it never got lost. Over the years he stopped this habit. I think if he'd lost it early on in this manner, I'd have been tempted not to replace because of the potential of losing the next.
If however he's lost it by complete chance and liked wearing it also, I think when the time is significant and finances make it affordable I'd replace.0 -
I'm not a jewellery girl ,yet I do wear my ring still. I also have a tattoo under the ring of our wedding date. Can't loose that can?Life is like a bath, the longer you are in it the more wrinkly you become.0

I think if wearing a ring means a lot to you both you should by a replacement. Remember it is just a symbol. Loosing something can happen to everyone. Don't worry to much about it.having fun saving on everything:j0

We were both very upset when my husband confessed to losing his wedding ring a few years ago. We think it must have come off with his motor bike gloves at some point.
After lots of searching we replaced it, this was quite expensive as he has massive hands and it's quite a chunky band. At first it seemed strange that it wasn't 'the one' but now, many years later we are still very happy together and have more or less forgotten it was replaced.
I guess for us as a couple the rings are quite symbolic so not wearing them wouldn't be an option but I can understand that every couple is different and may not want to wear them all the time or even at all.Decluttering, 20 mins / day Jan 2024 2/20
