I stopped wearing my wedding ring within couple of months of being married and my husband never had one. Our marriage is not made or cemented by a piece of jewellery.

If you and he don't feel that a replacement will be symbolic enough then I wouldn't bother replacing it.

We all feel differently about things so I'm not saying you're wrong to feel the way you do, but it really is just a ring.

I am amazed no one has accused him of having an affair yet! :D

I think it is down to how you and he both feel. It might be possible to replace it and to do something to make the new one meaningful to the two of you, whether it is a private re-statement of your vows, or a gift on a significant date, or something similar.

My grandmother chose not to replace her wedding ring when it was lost when she was in hospital, but in her case it happened after she was widowed, so there was no possibility of her husband being able to give her the replacement or do anything to make it significant.

Many men don't like wearing jewellerynof any kind. Perhaps he doesn,t really. I "lost" my wedding ring many years ago. It was getting too tight so removed it before it had to be cut off, out it in "a safe place" -and have never since been able to find it. I don!t want a replacement. It wouldn't,t have the same sentimental value so I don't wear one.

Don' t rush out an buy another yet . It may still turn up. I once previously removed my wedding ring when gardening and put it on the bedside table. It must have got knocked off and bounced into one of those little carpet protector cups which take the casters on furniture. I found it there several weeks later whilst hoovering!

My wedding ring cost less than £100 for exactly this reason. My wife I both know there is a good chance I will lose it! I've managed three years so far however it is getting a bit scratched.
  • My husband is on his 3rd wedding ring, he lost his first one at our wedding reception!

Most of the time he doesn't wear it as he is a kitchen manager, he does tend to wear it on night's out though. We always replace his ring but not sentimentality attached to it and don't spend a lot on them, we have been married for 9 years.

I won't lose mine. It's been safe in its box on the dressing table since we got back from our honeymoon eight years ago.

I was surprised at how important it is for my husband to wear his wedding ring - I thought he would loose it within a fortnight! Me, on the other hand, have developed an allergic reaction to mine so have taken it off. I keep assuring him I have not developed an allergic reaction to our marriage!
  • I lost mine and bought another one, I was too scared to own up. I then found it in the car as I was clearing it to be sold. So I now have two, but only one wife thankfully.
It's taken me years of experience to get this cynical

I've lost mine. It was too tight so I didn't wear it it for ages. When I went to try it, having lost weight, I couldn't find it.

    I'm in a quandary now.
