"Technical problem" opening Nationwide account

Just tried to open a FlexDirect current account with Nationwide via their online banking web page. I got right to the very end of the process, including them smacking me with a credit check, only to be told "we are unable to proceed due to technical difficulties, please try again later". Anyone else had this problem? Any advice?
Thanks.

If you can't offer sensible advice just shove off.

Well, I just did - same problem. And it really is right at the very end of the process, so now I've been hit with two credit checks (not that I'll be entering any credit agreements in the foreseeable future). I've sent them a secure message, given that I already had a credit card with them.

I wonder if they can remove these 'aborted' searches? I'm a bit miffed at this because I'm in the process of opening a few current accounts to maximise interest on a lump sum.

Happened to me last time I tried to open a Nationwide account on a Sunday. Tried again on the Monday evening and went through fine.

I tend to get 'technical problems' using Edge with this site. Chrome seems to work fine. Have you tried a different browser?

I also had problem trying to open a new Flexclusive Regular Saver last week, but I couldn't get past the early stages when I had agreed T& Cs and pressed continue got " technical problems " message.

I was using Safari on iPad so tried I.E. and chrome on my PC but had same problem, left it for a couple of days, then managed to open an account at next attempt.

This was at the time when Nationwide were having problems with recording interest on some maturing accounts, so I wonder if it was part of that computer glitch?

Touchy, I thought that was your default advice in most situations.

Of course if you don't follow your own advice some might say it's hypocritical.....
