We have a Neff double oven plus a Neff microwave on top (all built in). As I'm only 5ft 2 inches (and Mr S isn't that much taller!) the driving factor was that the microwave couldn't be above a 'safe to use' height. We still have a small pan drawer on the bottom, so the oven isn't too low down, and there's a small cupboard on top (with a drop-down front) for things I don't use very often. The top of the bottom oven lines up with the top of the worktop, so it doesn't look 'odd'.

I wouldn't put the fridge freezer next to the oven - but that's just me. I'm sure other people will tell you that it's fine.

Thanks for replying, all further information for me.

I asked both the planner and the fitter and they say it's not a problem having them together. I suppose two housing units will be double thickness of wood between them. Just noticed they are next to each other in photo from brochure.

This is how we installed our ovens recently.

The lower oven is a large single conventional oven. The upper oven is a microwave plus conventional combination oven.

The doors hinge downwards. We considered Neff slide and hide but chose AEG.

The numbers are centimetres, all from floor level.

The odd reflection is a washing machine in the adjacent utility room as the connecting door has been removed for decorating.

We spent some time in the kitchen showroom experimenting with various heights by standing on items of different heights to simulate different heights of ovens.

    I am 5' 10 and my wife is 5' 7.

We were primarily concerned with the upper microwave combi not being so high that you could burn your arms on the open door when removing hot items from it.

We have been using the ovens for a few weeks now and are satisfied that we achieved the best height positioning. I do most of the cooking and it works for me but is also fine for my wife.

We carefully considered having the oven stack beside a door but that worked best for the overall plan as it maximised worktop space.

You may want to go slightly lower unless the overall height of your two ovens is less than ours.

Enjoy your new kitchen when it is completed.

I have a full size single oven and alongside it a reduced height single oven with built in microwave and then a warming drawer underneath. Those two occupy the same size space as the full oven alongside. The full oven is 42.5 inches from the floor. This is a perfect height. There doesn't seem to be any point in having a built in oven that you have to bend down to use.

It looks as if you have the wrong housing. Most of the makes have different housings for the oven combinations. It will be much too low at 27 inches.

    Can you exchange the housing?

I'll try to post a picture of mine later - just working out how to do it!!
It should be possible for the fitter to adjust the height of the shelves and use filler panels if necessary.

That is what our fitters did. Our shelves are attached with a cam mechanism accessible from under the shelf. Howden may screw them in from the side but again that should be easily adjusted.

You can see a small filler panel immediately above the upper oven in my picture above.

It isn't anything to worry about.

In theory the fridge freezer has to work harder with a hot oven beside it but, as you only use the ovens for fairly short periods of time, and modern fridge freezers are very well insulated, it doesn't really matter.

I'm starting to think I maybe should of just got a microwave to stand on the bench as I've always had, would of saved myself a great deal of money and then I could of had the oven at any height. I just liked the idea of more workspace. At least I've got the weekend to have a good think. I'll compare the measurements to yours Head The Ball

Actually Head The Ball, daft as it seems our measurements seem on the high side to your measurements if you and your wife are 5'10" and 5'7" we are 5'6" and me being shorter at just under 5'4"
Laminate flooring is yet to go down, so these are from floor 19cms, 58 cms, 118 cms, 158cms, 211 cms

We opted for a free standing microwave in a corner, which freed-up a space for the totally useless warming drawer my wife insisted on. The slide 'n hide oven then went on top of that at a shade under 1m from the floor. Two drawers sit at the bottom of the pile and a cupboard on top.

I'm short (5' 4") and find that oven just right.

We also didn't opt for fridge-freezer next to oven, and stuck it on an end rather than go built-in. This made two designers throw their hands up in horror, as we'd then created a 'dark hole in a corner. ' However, we insisted they do it.

We love the hole in the corner for making our tea and toast etc. Far from being dark, it's just the same as the rest of the kitchen. LED spots and under unit ropes see to that. We're not exactly strapped for space anyway and although I understand about insulation etc I just didn't want oven and fridge together.
