These guys are complete jokers....After going online to buy some packing boxes...simple enough task.. I followed all the links on their site..yep i need 10 x tea chest..ok..£2.80 each..on almost every page theres a flashing tag about the FREE NEXT DAY DELIVERY..and "don't be fooled by other sites offering the same but not delivering on time"..so I carry on to the check out..give my card details..fill in the relevant order form..and think Great...boxes will be here tomorrow..get home and a1box have called and asked me to call back regarding my order..HMMM..
SO i CALL ..and they tell me I haven't paid delivery which is £3.99..not a lot..but No Im not gonna pay because as far as Im concerned Ive bought the boxes and now Im being charge extra. At no point while completing the online transaction was I asked to pay or given the opportunity to pay delivery..if I had, this would have stopped the price being so competitive. To cut a long story short..The manager was then very rude, had zero customer service skills and became sarcastic and flippant when I said I thought as a good will gesture..seeings as his website software was rubbish because it had allowed me to purchase the boxes without charging me delivery, he should send the boxes anyway..no such luck..the guy is a complete knob..with bells on.......I think its illegal to sell someone something...then charge them more ??..Trading standards here I come...

What's the surcharge for?
Do you live somewhere remote?0 -
Can't you cancel and buy elsewhere?
It does sound odd that the transaction was completed before delivery charges asked for.0 -
Have you got screen shots showing the promises of Next Day Delivery? If not, it might be worth taking some.0

My wife and i have just purchased a box pack from www.a1box.co.uk and the service was very good. We ordered online and we wern't asked for any extra money, we ordered a large box pack with 2 extra wardobes, we placed the order at 5.45pm the day before and we got delivery at 8.15am the next morning, the price included next day delivery and vat.
Also we have been looking for someone to make us a box to put our grandfather clock in, and A1 have said they can make it, so we have now ordered that form them, the only problem i can see is getting the clock into the box, i need someone strong!!0 -

always interesting that people join to say what a good job a company did on a thread with negative views0 -

Especially when they just join that day then take the trouble to open and old thread0

I ordered a box pack from them 2 years ago and got the advertised free next day delivery. Personally I can't fault the service I received and as for the boxes, they've been used for 3 house moves now and I've just freecycled them as they've still got plenty of life in them!
Agree the other post does seem a bit fishy though. Reads just like an advert... normal customers don't tend to mention that an order was placed outside of normal office hours yet still arrives next day, neither do they normally mention that the price included VAT or the other services a company offers when it's not really relevant to the thread.0
