  • Hah what a scam. I tried booking 2 single flights - on the flight Milan to Stansted (keep in mind this is ONE flight) it charges 3 pounds now for the airport check in. Not only has it gone up from 2 pounds but it trys to charge the 3 pounds twice despite this being a 1 way flight!

    Is this legal guys?
  • Of course its legal. They can charge what they want. You choose to fly with them or not.

It is not a scam, nothing Ryanair does is a scam, Ryanair are a totally honest airline who would NEVER try to extort money from their customers

Are you sure the charge is in POUNDS from Italy and not 3Euros.

Question for Budget or anyone else that has used check & go:

The new free priority boarding/check-in online allows you to check-in up to 2 days before and print your own boarding pass.

What happens on the RETURN journey?

Is the original valid for both ways or do you have to go online while abroad and check-in for coming back.

No you have to check in again on-line for the return part of the journey. This was one of the reasons why, when Ryanair started charging for online check-in, I stopped using the service. I couldn't find an option to choose online check-in just for the outward journey.

Check-in online for the return journey could present a real problem for most people.
I`ve never seen an internet cafe abroad with a printer attached.(might be wrong)

Same goes for a hotels internet access.

Ryanair claim they want to cut down the queues at check-in by offering online check-in but this could have the reverse effect.
Those that would like to check-in online, like myself, now realise it`s not so easy to do the return journey that way.
A cynic might say this will end up adding to the check-in queues at the airport but of course Ryanair will be getting a £4 check-in fee off all these extra people.

Hotel in rome at the weekend didn't have a printer, 1st internet shop we came across down the road did + their internet access was cheaper. There was only 1 networked printer for the whole shop, inside a desk, so maybe that's why you've never seen them?

.80 euros for 15 mins access and 1 print out

it was then I discovered that you can't use online check in out of italy...

    Well, I've done it.

Booked 2 single flights between Stansted and Malin. Both allowed me to select the 'check in online / priority boarding' option so will be interesting when I arrive at Milan airport!

Do you think I should contact Ryan Air? I'm happy to pay the airport check in fee in Italy but not from London as it's not required (yet booking facility insists the fee is doubled if booking a return flight).

Hope I'm making sense. Basically Ryanair won't allow you to check in online when you're departing Italy.

I don't want to turn up to Milan airport and have to pay Ryan Air some huge fee to check in. Their computer system shouldn't have allowed this!

Also - found it strange my return flight charged me in Euros. Is this normal for Ryan Air?

You booked a single flight from Milan to London Stansted so you are charged in the currency of the originating country - in this case Italy.
