    I tried viewing a property from purple bricks 2.5 years ago, never got back to me, so never bothered to be honest.

    I am sure not everyone's experience is like this, but selling a house is also selling it at the right price, did the price get reduced after putting it on the local estate agent?

    We are in process of selling, we looked at PB but we didn't like penalty fee that applies if you don't use their solicitor. That information is not very well presented by them, neither the credit agreement if you want to pay later.

    We are about to market our house with PB.The local agent who does know the area very well hasn't mentioned anything about incurring a penalty fee if you choose not to use their solicitors.I told him that we would be using our own solicitor whose quote is £400 cheaper.
    I think that this is something that i need to clarify before we sign on the dotted line.

    PurpleBricks just suck, full stop....

    Although I am tenant in this scenario, I have never dealt with such an incompetent company, EVER. ok, BT wins most awards for being useless, but PurpleBricks is worse!

    No customer service, no response to resolving issues. Its a case of, once they got your money, game over, your on your own, and any issues that are supposed to deal with, falls on deaf ears.

    When we sold our house, my husband wanted Purple Bricks as it was cheaper. I managed to persuade him that our house would sell quicker and we would have better service using a local Estate Agent who knew the area and had a good reputation.

    I won :) The house sold very quickly and the EA were very helpful.

    I personally would not use an online EA for selling, although we have used OpenRent to deal with our rental property and are very impressed with them.

    Online agencies; the Final Curtain Call?

    https://www.estateagenttoday.co.uk/features/2019/2/online-agencies-the-final-curtain-call

    "... does seem as if we have reached ‘peak online agency’ and that this niche sector, once thought of as the scourge of high street firms, is in retreat.

    Here’s the evidence:

    - Purplebricks loses two key chief executives and 24 per cent of its share price in one day, with company revenue expectations revised sharply downwards;

    - House Network, one of the original onliners in the UK, announcing redundancies;

    - market share for the top 10 online agencies failing to break the five per cent threshold so far this year, when not so long ago there were forecasts of 10 or 20 per cent or more;

    - only modest progress on crowdfund website Crowdcube for Love2Move, a platform seeking cash to spread online agency facilities to traditional agencies.

    All this bad news - coming quite literally in just a week - hardly bodes well for a sector still reeling from the fall-out of Emoov and Tepilo collapsing just two months ago. "

    I don't remember how we made the initial contact with PB but suspect it was via their website. The local agent arranged to come round, view and discuss. He gave us a price that was £20000 lower than the bricks + mortar agency but we had felt that was a bit high anyway (property sold about in the middle, just short of £230000). He said he had worked in the area for many years and seemed to have a good knowledge of it. He left us with some info and to make up our mind.

    At around 8pm on the Sunday evening we decided to go for it and pressed the 'sell' button on the PB website. Mark phoned us about 10 minutes later and arranged to come round the next day to take photos and measurements.

    Our prospective buyers came to view on Sunday afternoon and made an offer via the PB site. I pressed the 'PB please negotiate for me' and, again, Mark phoned me within a few minutes.

    We haven't needed any contact since then but have Mark's mobile number and can also contact him via the PB site if need be. I don't know what the arrangements are if/when he is away.

    Hi there, Can you update anymore? Interesting information. Are they OK with all paper work and did it take you long at the end for all to complete?

    I know of couple of people who have all sold without a glitch with purple bricks, everything was done on-line, appointments booked, re-arranged and vendor availability all set online. Offers received on-line and either declined or accepted

    There only gripe was the conveyancing firm which PC sub-contract to.

    I think it depends on your local agent. 3 of the 4 houses sold in my road in the past year have used them successfully. The first one had problems with the in-house conveyancing and switched, the other 2 used independent conveyance firms from the start. 2 conducted their own viewings, 1 opted for agent-conducted viewings. They thought the savings of £2-4k, compared to High St agents, outweighed any negatives they encountered.

    We sold recently via a local agent. They already had a buyer on their books and we got full asking price. Don’t begrudge paying the £3k as they got us top dollar. Going cheAp can be a false economy.
