Amazon Prime is it worth it

I have looked back at my postage since June this year. I've spent £54 on postage with Amazon. We don't have a smart TV so wouldn't be able to watch Grand Tour for instsnce which DH would enjoy.

I sort of begrudge spending £80 just for free delivery which will sort of lock you in (mindwise) to Amazon.

What experience have others had?

Why not add an Amazon Fire stick to the TV to watch the free Amazon content as well as catch up TV from BBC, ITV, etc?
These sticks were £25ish recently and have a proper remote.

I didn't think it would be worth it but then OH got it and added me to it and I can honestly say it's one of the best things he's ever bought! I use it all the time. If something isn't needed urgently, you can often opt for slower delivery (I think it's 3-5 days) and accept a £1 credit for video or kindle books instead, so I've not actually paid for a book for months and months, and I read quite a bit. The same day delivery is fantastic when you've forgotten something.

We have the kids' subscription thing for their kindles so we save money on the monthly amount because of the Prime subscription.

I don't think having it has blinded me to better deals elsewhere - I still use other shops when their products are better or cheaper, but it has meant I feel free to use Amazon whenever I want. If anything, it feels like I now have more choice, not like I'm locked into anything.

The only downside for me is that I tend to order bits as and when I need them so I have lots of deliveries rather than saving them up to one bigger order. The extra miles the courier does is a concern (environmentally), but I think their journeys are quite well planned now - more often than not, the courier will deliver something to somebody else on my street so I don't feel too bad about it.

ETA - If you don't mind having lots of deliveries, it's better to order one thing at a time as they offer you £1 kindle credit per order. They usually manage to group them into one delivery still.

Well I didn't do it through choice if that's what you think. I buy lots of stuff from Amazon and they charge delivery at roughly £3.99 average per consignment.

Is there any extra expense or is that it. Or do you have this along with subscribing to Prime?

It used to be but not anymore only if the item is over £20.

Then wait until you want £20's worth of goods, include £10's worth of books, or buy from marketplace sellers with free delivery

You can watch Amazon TV on any compatible device, like a laptop etc :D

Or as suggested get a Fire stick. I find the free TV selection limited but if you'd like The Grand Tour why not?
