That looks like a very decent price.

    Agreed.
A Lux ac controller with 14.4kwh Pylons would be £5364 plus around £400 for installation so that price seems reasonable if your happy with the Sofar inverter.
We went with the Lux as it has better monitoring/remote control functions, UK support and a 10 year warranty.

note that the 3.5kwh batteries have an 80% DoD, versus 90% DoD on the 2.4kwh ones.

That's a reasonable deal though if you don't mind the DoD issue... Think renewables quotes nearly 5500 for a 14.4kwh setup with LUX after VAT and with all the cables / DC breakers / mounts.

I expect that price will go up if you go for 2.4kwh batteries and LUX instead, making it just an OK offer.

The Pylontech site is showing a 90% DOD for both the US2000 plus & the US3000.

The software on my Sofar ME3000 will only allow an 85% DOD.

90% yes but you half the life of the US3000 in terms of cycles. If you're comparing apples to apples, to maintain same lifetime of cycles, the US3000 will be capped at 80%, the US2000 at 90%.

Thanks for the opinions, I think I will go for it as I said a small discount can be applied to that price...
Discussed the LUX which I can have for the same price but they are not recommending that I do as they say worse support etc but I really have no views either way

Don't know much about Sofar support but I can tell you, Lux support is excellent. I've contacted Think Renewables a few times and always had replies promptly. They also arranged a remote firmware update which was done within the hour.

I think you should definitely go with the lux. And if you dont like it, I'll swap you with my sofar !!

I have been angling at lux for a while, but turns out the quote I received previously was well out, so I cant justify the lux when the sofar works pretty darn well.

As far as stacking the batteries, I see no issue with stacking 4 on top of eack other, cases seem sturdy enough, and would make just under 35cm height. I was planning on stacking 7 in 2 rows, (3 and a 4) but the wife suggested sticking them side on and a light bulb popped on? 1 side on is about the same size as 4.5 stacked, and gives the advantage of the lip overhanging the shelf, so you can screw through the lip onto the shelf, to stop them moving.

So I now have 140kg of pylontech above my sofar on some homemade brackets.
Which cost let's say £20, as the only thing I actually bought was wall bolts to take the weight, the brackets I made out of some left over angle bar and the shelf from spare mdf.

This was just at the weekend, but as a quick reference in terms of heat, while the sofar has ranged from 25-55C, the batteries have went from 22-27c in the same time, so I'm really not concerned about heat, this was me setting it to forced charge and discharge to make sure all was working properly after adding more batteries.
