After recovering the cost by selling the organs, and body parts for dissection practice.

In accordance with NHS glasses, the urn is a cheap plastic one. The mortician will upsell to a proper one, which still won't seal properly.
I went NHS dental about ten years ago, never again.

Have I missed something? If the parents don't have the funds the hospital or the local authority already have to pay i.e. they don't have discretion in the matter.

Human organs are not sold, but you can purchase other animal bits.

It wouldn't surprise me if some future government set up a fee paying brokering service for human organs - Anything to raise revenue for the public coffers.

That's true for the basic bog standard funeral but most people like to go overboard and have all the trimmings while lining the pockets of the funeral directors.

    Spot on.

Only a couple of generations ago not being able to pay for a family funeral would have been the worst shame possible - people paid into insurances and "burial clubs" to make sure it didn't happen to them. Now we are happy to advise that "it's OK - just let everyone else pay" ??

Not a case of being happy just factual. Too many people struggle and put themselves in debt to fund a relative's funeral when they don't have to.

My mum had that. She had a little old book until about 10 years ago and she'd tell me "My granny started that, one penny a week - it's so there'll always be enough money to bury me".

People took it seriously back then. You needed to save money for stuff.

I think Pincher was being sarcastic.

I do think that hrlp should be given so that children can have a decent funeral, without families bring put into debt. I'm not talking about horse-drawn carriages or anything, but dignified.
