Sainsburys Christmas music too loud

Perhaps point out to Sainsbury's that they are due for a visit by elf and safety for the benefit of their workers hearing. You don't notice hearing damage at the time it occurs but it can easily lead to deafness later in life.0

I find ALL this so-called music intolerable and on more than one occasion have turned around and walked out of a store. I do not browse around a shop - if I went in for a loaf of bread then that's what I come out with. In and out as quickly as possible. I somply can't concentrate when bombarded by tuneless noise, and Christmas is the worst time of all - old, crackly recordings of tired old carols played on a never-ending loop. Those poor assistants.
I do feel sorry for the staff in these places, I'm sure they must feel absolutely wrecked when they leave. It can be exhausting, trying to be polite to customers, maintain a cheerful demeanour, all the time trying to ignore the racket going on over their heads.
Oh, and some restaurants are equally as bad.0 -
before the days of streamed music we used to have a 4 cassette system where when one finished it switched to the next, head office used to supply 4 c60 cassettes loaded with the latest smashing cover versions of tunes and current offers and correct deals - if a cassette broke you had a couple of generic ones you could put in (that we were already fed up with as cassettes regularly failed when played continuously) or you could leave one out and it played as a 3, 2 or 1 cassette system.
When we got the Christmas decorations in late September we got sent a single c60 Christmas tape, double sided so we had 2 hours of splendid Christmas tunes. You got to hear them 4 times on a shift.
By mid October it was becoming torture, you knew what was coming next and you could time your shift by them. I had risen to the dizzy heights of Department Manager by this point, and accepted the companies choice of music despite the dross. I was in the administration office looking through some orders when a strange incident occurred.
A truly great guy - Terry Adams - assistant manager who treated everyone with respect, did the job well and was an all round top bloke - calmly came into the office. He stopped the Christmas tape, opened the player and using his biro spooled out a couple of foot of tape. he then twisted it up, snapped it and threw it in the bin. Myself and the admin clerks watched this wanton destruction of company property with amused shock horror.
Terry left the room and went back to the shop floor, all without uttering a word. It was unnecessary. We all understood. Incidently the store manager loved the Christmas music and was most upset that cassette system had chewed the tape and ordered another one. Funnily enough, after that the Christmas tapes never lasted more than a day or two.
If anyone Knows scouse Terry, ex heating engineer give him a big pat on the back!!Mr Generous - Landlord for more than 10 years. Generous? - Possibly but sarcastic more likely.0 -
Would local environmental health / health and safety executive office be able to have a word?
Or #nameandshame on twitter :-)
I had issues with another establishment, playing muzak WAY too loud, it was hurting-
They turned down after we asked politely, but then it went up again, after someone else moaned about it being too low..
We walked out, the place lost a 10 hungry person booking.breathe in, breathe out- You're alive! Everything else is a bonus, right? RIGHT??0 -

Which would have then been replaced by another 10 hungry people. Seeing you've openly admitted other people complained about the opposite thing your party did! That means basically the venue hasn't in fact lost at all!0 -
I'm surprised that they are allowed to play Christmas music with all the mustn't offend anyone nonsense (especially when the 'offended' say they are not ).0

Was in my local Sainsburys yesterday. Can honestly say I couldn't hear the music over the general noise of the store. Caught fleeting bits, presumably when close to a speaker.0
