Internet When Bankrupt

Good idea re sharing wifi with a neighbour Arleen. The mobile data thing is worth looking into. When my internet is down, I use my phone's mobile wifi hotspot which sort of works, if I put the phone on the bathroom window (we have a very poor signal). My Three contract is £15/m and includes 2GB of data, as well as free calls allowance and unlimited texts etc. If you're out of contract it would be worth checking out if you can switch to a deal with decent data allowance. You can do this with PAYG too, just select a bundle with decent data that allows Wifi hotspot use.
I used to work from home with just a mobile phone with 8GB of data allowance, no landline at all. I used to go over the allowance sometimes, but this was invariably due to watching Youtube etc rather than work. I reckon I could have managed on 4GB if I had been more disciplined.0 -
i'm not sure sharing neighbour wifi is a good idea as you dont know what they will do with the connection - i got my own account cut off once due to a trojan on one of my webcams0

Rubbish the Trustee is responsible for collecting any surplus income not required for daily living. £40pm internet connections are not required and this could go to paying the debt.
How would you pay for an internet connection without a bank account or credit card anyway?

you would probably need a payg 3g dongle as they can be topped up with cash0

BR's have their debts cleared - that's what BR is...
The OR collects surplus income where it exists but except in the case of high earners or those with high value assets - I doubt creditors see much of it, the OR and IS cover their fees first.
BR's are allowed to have internet connections - £40 for an internet/phone/TV package is actually quite cheap.
Why would a BR not have a bank account?0 -

No, brankrupts have their finances managed so they don't go any further into debt and anything that can be recovered by selling assets is done.TheGardener wrote: »The OR collects surplus income where it exists but except in the case of high earners or those with high value assets - I doubt creditors see much of it, the OR and IS cover their fees first.
Quite right too. This is money that is owed to people and biz large and small. The same biz that you and I invest in either directly through stocks and shares or via pension funds. therefore anything that is earned during the bankruptcy should be returned to the creditor.TheGardener wrote: »BR's are allowed to have internet connections - £40 for an internet/phone/TV package is actually quite cheap. Seems expensive as suggested a mifi device could be had for 1Gb a month for a tenner, the same saving measures should be applied to smoking and booze until the bankrupt is finally cleared.0 -
if they are not allowed cigarettes or booze what about food? would bread and water suffice?0

Creditors rarely see any funds due the O.R/trustee's very large bill which is paid first.
We are alowed to earn money and pay our bills...the
I find your comments appalling0 -
Pete9501 As I said in a previous post - please don't post on this board if you don't understand how BR works - it is a board for support and advice. Your comments illustrate that you clearly have little or no idea of how BR is administered and you are breaching the forum code of conduct.
BR's do not have their finances managed
BR's do have bank accounts
BRs are not always BR because they can't manage money - many are the victim of larger companies who in turn don't pay their small suppliers or life events they have no control over (sickness, accidents, death of partners etc)
I don't smoke nor do I booze and your inference is offensive.
I will assume you are elderly with a Victorian view of BR or maybe just a troll. Either way - they no longer have debtors jails or workhouses either0
