Although Plusnet are a BT subsidiary, it does not mean that the same products are available by default. Competition and Openreach play a massive part, in short it's the reason BT are offering FTTP for the OP but Plusnet are not.

You can see how much difference there is between the two entities alone just by the application criteria i.e no credit checks with Plusnet.
  • I've phoned Plusnet. They said no and that they don't do FTTP (which isn't technically true).
Oh well, guess my mobile data plan is about to take a battering then!
  • EE do pretty good value mobile data, I used it for work £29 per month for 32GB data.

Unforttunately the price does not get down proportionally. £11 for 2GB!!!!

Not really helping but I would be at a loss without internet - I live on Amazon Prime streaming and reading forums etc (this one and our local football one)

If I was unemployed having internet would likely be up there with food (I can live on surprisingly little shopping bill - I can eat for 25 quid a week)
  • Just for info, it's FTTC You're looking for (Fibre to the Cabinet) - FTP (File Transfer Protocol) is something else entirely. Cheers :)

"Fiber to the premises (FTTP) is a form of fiber-optic communication delivery, in which an optical fiber is run in an optical distribution network from the central office all the way to the premises occupied by the subscriber."
  • I did see this on the web RE: Tentel and Directsave

If you have a laptop or tablet, go to the flat you are moving to and scan for public wifi hotspots.

You may well be lucky and find a nearby business with free customer wifi that is in range of your flat.

  • You can subscribe to BT WiFi for about £40pcm. It'll use local homehubs public WiFi services. Streaming will probably be limited but it might tide you over until something better comes along?
