    Hi Borkid
No particularly reason. Just want easy access to Hospitals for work and buy my own home with my small budget in a nice area.
I am used to travelling, I am not phased by moving whatsoever.
Personally then look at south Norfolk. Midway between Bury St Edmunds and Norfolk and Norwich both have large hospitals and a couple of private ones. About 30 mins drive to each houses 3 or 4 bed between £160k and £250 depending on size etc for a reasonable 'mid career' buy.

Where does your daughter live? The roads in Suffolk/Norfolk are mainly A roads so it takes ages to get places.

Depending on where she lives it may take longer to get to her than from where you are now!

It's a lot faster getting around in Norfolk than it was when we lived in Hertfordshire because there is a lot less traffic. The only time I've had a really slow journey was trying to navigate around Norwich near rush hour times and that was solely due to traffic .

Right, for the avoidance of doubt, I live in Lancashire, my husband's family live in Swaffham, Oxborough (Norfolk) and Stowmarket (Suffolk). I would love to live in Norfolk, closer to the boat at Brundall (outside Norwich), but although my husband is retired I'm still in full time employment (not nursing, construction).

Our niece and her 'partner' and their son have just bought a lovely two bedroom in Swaffham in your price range.

But for myself and in our circumstances, if I were buying in that range in Norfolk (would that I could, not constrained by cost but rather by work), I would look at that new development in Brundall. Think it's called something pastures or pastures something. Also a similar development in Beccles.

If you do move to Nah-fk, please will you assimilate to Nah-fk and not insist on 'Lunnon'? Our rellies do feel that folk move from nearer London and instead of getting to know Norfolk ways, assume all will be the same as their more urban ways.

Friend of mine works a Norwich hospital and lives in Aylsham. As she's on shifts, no hassles for driving to work and misses the rush 'hour; usually. Its a lovely market town.

I moved to Sheringham for a year or so, but although really 'nice' place, more for retired residents, who would have most day to day needs met.

Looked at Melton Constable as it is reasonable value for money.
Also looked at High Kelling, near Holt....it was like entering a 'secret' community and very private. But zero fone signal or internet connection, although was on mains gas - a rare thing in many Norfolk villages.

You're wanting to move to Norfolk, but you haven't even heard that there's a town called Diss? Riiight.

I agree with Adrian, you need to do a lot more research before you even consider moving if you don't even know of the existence of Diss. I don't even think you should rent yet, maybe take a few trips there first and understand the geography.

I think you are doing this the wrong way round.

Find a job, or at least the possibility of jobs, first. There's no point looking and finding an idyllic location and then finding its 90 minute commute each way from the one place witha realistic possibility of jobs.

If you find there are ten potential nursing jobs in each Norfolk town, and then are evenly scattered so it doesn't matter where you live, then fair enough, but I'm guessing that's not the case, indeed with the exception of coastal villages, I would expect that house prices would follow the trend of, nearer to place with job = more expensive.

Also you need to understand (or explain here even if you know) how you'd get to work, if its public transport that will be hugely more restrictive than if you have a car. I'm presuming that due to odd hours, a car is vital?

    Thanks everyone
I am looking for work first and have made a few enquires already for Norwich hospital. We currently only have one car so I would have to consider alternative transport for now.
    My daughter lives in Suffolk.
Thanks for all the advice its been so helpful.

I saw some lovely houses in Swaffam. And rest assured I am not the type to move somewhere and give out about the locals. I dislike people who do that!
