joggingalong wrote: »Last year I found 3 bars of lavender soap at a car boot sale, for £1.00 and when I got home looked it up on the internet and it retails at £5.00 a bar. I have now started the third bar and hope it will last a good few months. I always look for posh soaps at car boot sales as lots of people just seem to get rid of them
Soaps are one of the most consistent money-savers, allowing me to have the really top quality ranges at the same price as 'saver' brands. I stock up throughout the summer, although could probably keep going for a couple of years without buying more. I am quite sure I have more guest soaps than guests! I also get all my toiletries from car boots so the only items I have to buy in store are toothbrushes, toothpaste and mouthwash, although I have seen them come up from time to time.Solar Suntellite 250 x16 4kW Afore 3600TL dual 2KW E 2KW W no shade, DN15 March 14

Another fan of Dr Bronner. Does not seem to leave residue although we have soft water here.0

Good old Palmolive for me. In a soap dish with ridges to keep it above wet. Wipe soap dish if getting mushy residue due to reckless user (DH!) :rotfl:
I often buy a really nice soap as a souvenir on hols. They spend some time in clothes drawers, perfuming the contents, before being brought into serviceI have changed my work-life balance to a life-work balance.0 -
Not about the soap, but about the soap scum - my old flatmate used one of the carbolic soaps, bright orange, and it left a build-up on the sides of the tub. Vinegar and bicarbonate of soda will clear it every time. I used to sprinkle the bicarb onto a pad or cloth, and then spray the tub with vinegar. Quick rub down and it was gone. Much better than the expensive shouty brand cleaners...Some days, it's just not worth chewing through the leather straps....
