Bars of soap

I prefer to use old style hand soaps but every one I try now just ends up in a melted mess on the bathroom sink. I guess they've just turned to cheaper ingredients. I wonder if anyone knows of any brands that are still nice without costing a fortune of course
Thanks.

try storing them in the airing cupboard if you have one I usually recycle left over bits into a new bar and dry them out this way0

Thanks yes I do try to dry them first, but no success lately.0

Although I really like 'proper' cold-pressed soaps, they tend to mush up even though I put them on a slotted soap rack to enable the bar to dry out.
My O.H and DS like Dove soap and that keeps well, doesn't mush and also Pears is good. I prefer that.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
We've always used Imperial Leather but find that doesn't last like it used to.0

I have to say, pears never turned to mush like that; it's what I used when my daughter was little.
I haven't bought any soap for years, bar the odd bar of pears for nostalgia here and there. I'm onto my last few bars of imperial leather from the tesco health and beauty vouchers0 -
Another person who uses Dove soap. It keeps its shape.0

I use nothing but Pears and have never had that problem.0

We use Simple, but we keep it out of the wet as much as possible with a magnet. Lowers the smoosh capability a bit!0

I read recently that any bar with essential oils in it lasts worse than others.
I too use bars and generally buy them at car boots. People throw out the most top-end bars, probably given as Christmas presents and on the whole I find they last several years if stored absolutely dry. I have however found a couple of makes, including Imperial Leather which OH uses, to seem to attract moisture no matter where in the bathroom they are stored. One large bar from Bodycare just cracked repeatedly and had to be thrown away after a couple of uses. Not so L'Occitane, Crabtree and Evelyn, etc. - the only thing that deteriorates is the perfume and that's after several years.Solar Suntellite 250 x16 4kW Afore 3600TL dual 2KW E 2KW W no shade, DN15 March 14
