They are not 2 random people trying to trash a restaurant. Both were very poorly for 72 hours and both ate the same food at the restaurant and no one else in the family has been ill.
That still doesn't mean it was the food at the restaurant that was to blame.

Someone who was infected with norovirus (the symptoms of which are very similar to food poisoning) may have been there at some time and they could have touched a surface (such as a door or table) that was subsequently touched by your partner and daughter or someone may simply have coughed or sneezed and passed the infection on.

Got to say there are some really daft comments on here including from some with many thanks attributed to them.
Did these two people eat any other remotely related food in the previous week?

They both may have had a sandwich or breakfast lunch at your own home.

touched something, breathed in the same gremlin....

A million and one things could have caused this sickness.

And you two need to grow up, arguaing like 5 year olds and to who is the biggest fool.
    There is no contest.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

Wouldn't the balance of probability be enough?

I'm assuming that it takes a few days for food poisoning to kick in, so there is scope for it having been caught between maybe Saturday and Tuesday? That's seems reasonable in my eyes.

    In that time:

1x meal was at the Trafford Center
2x meals were eaten on the Monday, not at the Trafford Center
    3x meals eaten on Saturday
    3x meals on Sunday
    3x meals on Tuesday

sum: 1x meal at TC vs 11x meals elsewhere

So, the "balance of probability" is that the food poisoning was picked up somewhere other than the TC (91.66%). That doesn't even count snacks like!

Even if you narrow the parameters to Monday only, there is a 66% chance that the food poisoning was caused by food eaten NOT at the TC.

Even having sourced all food from the same source on the Monday (or having just 2 meals a day) would result in a 50-50 probability, which is not "on the balance of probability".

That doesn't even factor in the possibility that it is NOT food poisoning :)

So, whilst the "balance of probability" would be enough, the OP does not have it on this occasion :)

Of course, the OP may say "but my daughter was sick too" and I would say "well, they both eat in the same house" to which OP will say "but they don't eat the same food" to which I'll say "there is no proof of that and no third party can verify that". Probably saved about 3 posts with that!

Got to say there are some really daft comments on here including from some with many thanks attributed to them.

Ignore the "thanks" on the left hand side of our profiles, sometimes they are just popularity votes! There are some posters on here who would never thank a post of mine even if I had solved world hunger (I would probably be blamed for an increase in food poisoning cases :rotfl: )

But the people who got thanks on their contributions here:

    - Caz3121 advised you to get evidence of food poisoning

    - unholyangel gave some insight into the incubation period for food poisoning (see my previous post for some numbers as well)

    - foxtrotoscar making a fair observation

    - George Michael providing some further insight

Those posts aren't daft at all! You're daft for ignoring them!

You could contact Environmental Health, who may temporarily shut the restaurant down.

Not on a random accusation they won't.

Go to the foods standards agency then and then come back to us.

At the moment all you're doing is speculating which does no one any good.

You know what uranium is, right? It's this thing called nuclear weapons. And other things. Like lots of things are done with uranium. Including some bad things.

The Winter Vomiting bug is out and about at the moment. They are saying up 40% this year compared to last.

Quite possibly this was the cause.

    I had it 3 weekends ago:o
