flash player will never be up to date , they are struggling to keep up with the security breaches which occur with every day. Also I would remove java [as opposed to flash] if that is in your installed programs you most likely do not need that.4.8kWp 12x400W Longhi 9.6 kWh battery Giv-hy 5.0 Inverter, WSW facing Essex . The problem is you often get a message saying you need the latest flash player or the latest version of java to do the task you are trying to do.0 -

I don't remember specifically. I just know I have been told many times you need to update if you want to do the task you are trying to do.0 -
not necessarily , depending on the space available on the hdd, and he/she will have to re-install their programs, but that will also hold true with a new systemdonnajunkie wrote: »So you would have to remove vista first?
Of course if the OP has the space they can try W10 via the insider preview programme....4.8kWp 12x400W Longhi 9.6 kWh battery Giv-hy 5.0 Inverter, WSW facing Essex . Aint no sunshine ☀️ Octopus gas fixed dec 24 @ 5.74 tracker again+ Octopus Intelligent Flux leccy

One sensible precaution would be to run your web browser in a sandbox. A sandbox is a container that's protected from the rest of the operating system. So any changes that are made from within the sandbox can be undone, simply by deleting the contents of the sandbox.
It's hard to explain if you haven't come across the idea before, but it's simple once you get your head round it, and dead-easy to use.
Sandboxie is a great sandboxing app. Have a look here:

The main page shows "buy now" buttons, but click the "download" tab, and it'll download the free version.0 -

Many thanks for alerting me to this donnajunkie.donnajunkie wrote: »The latest Kaspersky internet security has a vunerability scan function and also tells you when software needs updating.
I did a scan and, lo and behold, Adobe Flash Player came up as a critical, vulnerable application - the active x version though.
I have removed this from my laptop and done another scan and am now getting no vulnerable applications showing.
I'm also getting 6 vulnerablities in the OS but Kaspersky tells me these do not need fixing.0
