Just for Fun - If you won 1 Million

Hi All,

I appreciate some of you may already have 1 million plus in your accounts, however just for fun what would everyone do if they came into a large sum of money (£1000,000) for this discussion).

  • I'd get a new Brabantia bin for the kitchen.

Plus a couple of packets of their bin liners, if there was enough left over.
  • I'd buy bread with seeds on

Advent calendars are 3 for 2 at Morrisons at the moment, so I'd buy three, one for me and one for MrsAnother Joe, and then just scoff the contents of the third one.

    £100k: mom
    £100k: dad
    £100k: sis
    £100k: cousin
    £100k: autie & uncle
£500k: retire, live off dividends + betting. No requirement to save so I could actually spend it all on holidays etc

I'd much rather win £10m though; it's the figure I dream about more, just before my EuroMillions ticket misses every single number

What do you mean by living on the dividends and betting?

I'd give it away to charity. There's nothing i need.

    I've helped Parliament
£100k into my pension ( this would include previous years allowances)
£360k which would be inheritance tax into a high interest account , interest to be paid to me.
    £150k me
    £120k son 1
    £120k son 2
50k each to my 2 brothers and 1 sister

Should I be alive 7 (or 3.5 on the sliding scale) years later I would take the £360k to below threshold for IHT. Whatever is left to go to my sons equally.

Buy a new flat in central London and let it. But it will never happen to me as I do not buy a lottery ....

It doesn't have to be a winning lottery ticket. Perhaps tomorrow morning you'll have a knock on the door, and Ernie will be standing there to say one of your premium bonds has come up.
