I have the HP4500 also. £20 or £25 from ASDA. May have been ex-display but it was all there including cables and still sealed inks.
Cable, WIFI network, WIFI direct and you can even email it.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Seems to me, I don't really have a problem, it was just taking that initial step to knew printer and taking on board the wifi aspect of it and hearing a new word "airprint". All I can say is "watch this space" now, thanks.
PS, next stop for me was hotukdeals where I saw this explanitary thing re inks, which I find quite attractive.

The thing about have a regular suupply of ink coming in, even though you can roll-over each month, is that it is more likely that I will print off those photo's that I awlays meant to, then I read this this

I am quite prepared to buy his today, but in a fortnight am away for a month, so, should I make the purchase and live with a months los, or wait till my return in mid Jan and risk the offer gone. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. I am in the free trial period with Instant Ink, and I think it works quite well. It's not a "regular supply" as such, because the Printer itself orders new cartridges only when it sees ink levels running low.
My cartridges have been sent from Holland, and took 6 days to get here, but my printer is showing no signs of the old ones running out, yet, and I have had the new ones for a week or so.
The printer itself is not on offer, so I would expect it to be the same price (or cheaper) in the new year.I am quite prepared to buy his today, but in a fortnight am away for a month, so, should I make the purchase and live with a months los, or wait till my return in mid Jan and risk the offer gone.
The Instant Ink free trial offer is on-going, and is HP's way of getting a cynical public to try it. I doubt that it will disappear any time soon.
The advantage of the free trial is that you can choose the maximum usage initially, at no cost. This equates to 300 pages per month/£7.99 - then you can use the trial period to work out what your actual usage will be. There is a very easy to use website that controls the whole thing.0 -
Cornucopia, thanks for the explanation, I much appreciate it. Whilst in town, I was thinking, £2 per month, £24 per year, yet my old Epson cost me about £18 I think each time. Yes I may be paying out slightly more, but the advantages out-way the old system. As for when will I purchase, it is something I will address soon. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

A little update. The good news is I have been to buy one from Curry's, the bad news is that they didn't have one.

Collected and unboxed yesterday. Will set up this morning but already I am wondering about something. If I receive a photo via email/messenger etc, if I decide to print it, I wouldn't want it a4 size, and it would be a waste to use an a4 sheet for postcard size, so anticipate saving those I want to print to desktop in a folder, then when I have 4, somehow arrange them as collage to print. Or is there a template?. Just can't get head round a 6"x4" size. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

I use MS Paint for this kind of routine print output editing.
On my setup, an A4 page equates to an image of 770px x 1100px with margins set to 0 all round.
This image will always print on a single page, so it's just a question of arranging whatever needs printing on it.0 -
PROBLEM, My issued wifi password contains a hyphen, but when I am entering the combination of words/hyphen I am stuck as I cannot find the hyphen on printer screenThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

I found the hyphen on the printer so was able to proceed and to a degree, success.
I can print from my ipad wifi to printer.
I can print from my iphone wifi to printer.
But I'm damned if I can print via wifi from laptop to printer, so clearly there is something I have omitted to do. If it is obvious to you, please tell me. Meanwhile I will have another go.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
