Need a wireless printer for HP Envy laptop

I have a new'ish HP Envy laptop running windows 10. I'm lost without a printer, I'm told I can get a wireless one but am unsure where to start or what I should be looking for. I guess it would be for occasional use, maybe the odd photo, but mainly for printing stuff such as e tickets etc. Maybe someone would offer an opinion please. It would help I suppose if info re inks were given too please.

PS, I do have an ipad as well

most of the cheap end printers have wifi now ,expect to pay around £30 . Hp and Epson have a mobile app that allows you to network print /Scan/Copy direct from your tablet or mobile phone

if you have an ipad or IOs device then look for the "Airprint" enabled icon so you can direct print

Thanks, don't know why, but even without looking, expected to pay about £50/£60 so your suggestion is quite pleasing. I will google airprint to see what that's all about, but guessing it is another name for wifi, I will see.

PS, are, I think I have it. https://s11.postimg.org/ccmp7a94j/Screenshot_507.png

Presumably once I have found a model that I like the look of, and got it home, I search for home wifi and connect. Whilst I am out this morning, via my iphone, will look at this thread to see if you've come up with a model you would recommend. (not asking too much am I?).

Many HP printers now have what they call "Instant Ink".

This is where the printer tells HP when the cartridges are running low, and new ones are dispatched automatically.

The pricing seems quite reasonable compared to the retail prices of cartridges themselves, starting at £1.99 per month for 50 pages per month.

Like all such things, it probably takes active management to get optimum value from it, but HP printers generally come with a period of free membership, so there is the chance to try it without cost.

even newer epsons will accept compatible inks - my XP-225 is a 3-in-1 and compatibles can be had for around £8 for 3 full sets :)

HP are cracking down on compatible carts, so be wary....

I have an HP Envy 4500 printer. Does airprint ( I keep it in spare bedroom while laptop is downstairs, prints from phone as well as tablet so this morning I printed a doc I needed for a meeting from my bed without even getting up!!) and allows you to print remotely though I've never tried that. Was around £30. Printer ink is always expensive but you just have to take the hit on that.

    I think it's pretty good.

Also have the HP 3630 printer and can't recommend it enough.

Didn't need to plug it into my Mac during set up which made life much easier. Works a charm with my iPhone/iPad and doesn't sound like it's taking off from Heathrow Airport whilst printing!

I have a new HP Officejet 6960. It's probably too OTT for the OP, being a small office machine, but it's a great printer and like other cheap printers, a bargain at £70.

It takes 4 cartridges (Magenta/Cyan/Yellow/Black) which makes the Instant Ink programme even better VFM.

I recently purchased a Cannon pixma airprint printer.

    Workers excellent via wifi/ipad air/iPhone 6.

Approx 60 though inks are expensive if I don't shop around.

Haven't had any initial probs at all, used when required, ink is still +90% via led.

Nice quiet machine-colour/photo double side printing/fax/scanner.

Delighted with this purchase after using epsom for a few years.
