I assume the car park is not part of the public highway, so nothing to stop them driving (except their parents perhaps).

My friend lives in a block of flats and not everyone has a parking place. They had to be bought when the building was converted, this means several flats do not own a parking place.
The carpark was recently resurfaced and to begin with the places were not numbered. It became a free for all everybody parking where they wanted i.e, nearest to the doorway into the flats.
The residents (those that had a paid parking place) were up in arms and the management soon had to get the places numbered.

    This.

I even get residents from adjoining roads trying to park in our quite obviously private parking spaces. They only do it once mind.. :D
  • This sounds quite normal.

I used to live in a small development of flats- each parking space was marked with the flat number, never really thought about or, more importantly, had any security issues at all.

Watch out though, wonder how much the management company will charge you for the work?!

Tell us more - are you related to the Krays?
  • I think you're overthinking this. If someone was very interested in burgling your flat, even if your parking spot wasn't numbered they could just watch your movements for a few days until they worked out which one you live in.

And bearing in mind, most people living in actual houses have driveways, and they aren't necessarily anymore open to burglary just because everyone knows which car belongs to which house. Hell, living in a flat doesn't mean you even have a car, so an empty spot doesn't mean an empty house.

As mentioned above (a number of times), based on your logic ,everyone living in a house with a drive would be more likely to be burgled if their car was not visible on the drive (be they away or the car in the garage).

Numbering has made your right to park clear, so no visitor to another flat can claim the parking is a free for all.
