I found this thread from googling the same problem. Even in desktop mode I still can't find a way to subscribe.

Give them a chance; it's only been 2 years since I've brought it up, with no less that three acknowledgements from MSE staff that they're taking the issue seriously, it's being looked into and my custom is important to them...

Not too enamoured of the hold music however.

Hi

Our developers have spent the last 18 months to two years working on a new CMS for the main site. This has taken priority over Forum work.

The Forum software version we're using is a very old one which we're hoping to move away from entirely in 2019. The work to do this should eventually include improved functionality such as this. Given these plans, using resource to make some changes now would not be sensible.

We're very much aware it's frustrating but we promise we are aware of this and how important it is for engagement.
