Hi. My partner and i recently got our right to buy valuation here in Leeds. It is £112,500. Before me, my partner put in right to buy 2 years ago and got a price of £80000 but did not go through with it. we would like to buy together but feel this a drastic price increase and have told the RTB teams legal department who said they cant give their reasoning behind the valuation. They said go to the District valuer. Has anyone had this experience and been successful in getting a reduced value? A house of the same size on our street but privately owned and renovated sold in August for £97,500.

Could be any number of reasons. Anecdotal evidence isn't going to count for jack.
If you're not happy do as the legal team suggest.0 -

Ah, but that won't come with a big, fat, discount.
OP, follow the advice given by your LA if you are determined to play your part in utterly decimating social housing stock.0 -
If you get no love from the council I know of an amazing house in Leeds that's up for sale.

Majority of house prices have gone up over the last 2 years so this shouldn't surprise you.
If you feel the valuation isn't right, then you have 3 options.
#1. Take the advice of the legal team.
#2. Purchase the property and appreciate the discount you are receiving.
#3. Don't buy it.0 -

You could have bought it for £80k two years ago. You chose not to.
Two years passed, during which the housing market changed a bit and the political environment changed a bit...
Unless you have a time machine, the price now is £112,500. You can choose to pay that now, or you can choose not to pay that now. The LA do not have to sell it to you if you don't want to buy it.
If you don't pay it now, you can ask again in two more years - it might have gone up more.
So... do you want to pay that much or not?
If you don't think that a fair price for this house, today, then you have a choice. Buy a different house, or stay renting this house.

Some people get large discounts and that is still not enough, what has the world come to? especially at the tax payers expense."It is prudent when shopping for something important, not to limit yourself to Pound land/Estate Agents"
