    Morning all,

SFD number four yesterday :) Today will be spendy as I'm taking a bottle of alcohol as my contribution to a festive get together at someone's house. A friend has offered to drive, so as long as she still wants to, we won't have to pay for a taxi :)

This weekend is really busy with being out tonight, builders coming to finish off tomorrow, going to a neighbouring city to see the Christmas market on the train and have friends over. I really just need two days to clean up after the builders.

Only 8 more school days until Christmas :)

Thrifty - well done, not long to go now.

Quiet day here, not working today so will be cleaning the house and may cycle later if the wind dies down a bit. It is mild and dry as well as windy so the washing is going on the line in a bit.

Work this afternoon so might find some bargains there;)
Hugs to those that need them.Haven't read back through the thread for a few days but I guess some "well dones" are in order as well.

    Hi everyone

Up to 5 sfd so far. Got back yesterday after a couple of days visiting a friend to exchange presents and have an early Xmas dinner. Very nice it was and really pleased I plucked up the courage to drive all the way. (I used to drive anywhere before I retired but since then my confidence went and I only kept to local journeys. Couldn't understand it because I have been driving since I was 18 and that was decades ago!!!)

So pleased with the sfds and as I'm not out over the weekend I should manage another couple I hope.

Xmas for me this year is a low key affair as there is only three of us for Xmas dinner which will be paid for by saved tosco vouchers and the presents and cards are more or less done now. I've been doing the £1 a day challenge this year but haven't opened my tin yet so I think that will go into my emergency fund. I've started again but going for £2 a day this time. It will be difficult as I only receive basic state pension but I'll give it a go. Anyway it's taken me ages to catch up so as I suppose I should go and amuse my youngest dgd (she's nearly two) her daddy will be collecting her about 2pm as he has an exam this morning.she is a little dot who is very quiet not like the other dgd I look after who is a year older and chats for a living!!!!!!!

Managed a SFd today, used my Boots point for a meal deal as kitchen in work is being decorated and my office is sat in the middle with painters around me, roll on 3pm been a trying day to say the least. 5/15 SFD woo hoo.

Shattered so glad its Friday. Lazy night today, may hand deliver xmas cards first, tomorrow see Dd and grandson ( providing no new arrivals) and off on train Sunday to a gig and overnight stay. Meeting friend down there so should be fun.

good on you, think I gave up with saving challenges this year. You put me to shame managing so well on your pension.

Have a good weekend folks catch up Tuesday with you.

Spend day today. Picked up a big order (£98) from Asd@, didn't get much fresh fruit but frozen berries etc instead as nothing is in season now anyway and really expensive. So smoothy season for us. At least that way i get some fruit into DH too. Also got some good deals and a case of cider and beer, which will hopefully be the last alcohol purchase before we start dry January. Got quite a lot of meat (beef and pork joint, whole chicken etc) to make budget slow cooker meals for the rest of the month.

Went to the post office and posted the first 30 christmas cards which came to £17 as a few went to Germany and Ireland.

Taking the rest of the night off. DH is at 5-a-side xmas dinner. Only did the bare essential chores. No crafting, cleaning, cooking tonight.

DH is out again Sat. We have a kids party to go to Sat and Sun some old nursery pals of DS and DD come round. And I'll be having two good friends round on Sat night. Next weekend will be a quiter one, will just go round friend's houses dropping of Christmas presents.

    Have nice weekend

    Hi Calling

I do falter often I'm not that good, but it's easier for me as I paid the mortgage off a fair few years ago and the debt went a couple of years ago. My one regret I have is not sorting my finances out years ago, I didn't realise you could pay your mortgage off earlier, or even think twice about spending way over my wages so I ended up with a huge od and credit card debt but at least it's all gone and I've learnt my lesson and I save for things before I buy and am able to live quite frugal, if only I'd done it when I was young!!!! But it has been a valuable lesson learnt and all three of my children have learnt as well so besides mortgages they don't have debt!!

To tell you the truth I find it a bit difficult at times as I would like to go to more places but I know I can't without going into debt. (I do have some money left from an inheritance but I can't bring myself to use it, in fact I gave the majority of it to my dds cos they would get it eventually)

    Oh sorry for going on,
