It's only a stupid question if you already know the answer, there's no reason why somebody who has come the UK and only lived in England would necessarily understand the somewhat bizarre constitutional makeup of the country (do you know of any other country that incorporates 4 separate historical countries, each with various degrees of devolved authority?).0 -
So someone who lives in UK does not know that UK is one country?
Also, of course, from the T&Cs they could see that there are no fees to use a Clarity card anywhere anyway.0 -
They do. But one thing to watch out for is having Scottish notes when you come back as they may not be easy to use in England, especially the further south you go. Now I live in England I try to make sure I use all my Scottish notes before I travel home.
And these days this is rubbish too!
Even in deepest darkest Cornwall.0 -
Scottish Pounds, Euro and Norwegian Kroner are only accepted.
Apply for your Electronic Travel Authorisation, in good time, as your likely travelling on a non-EU / EEA Passport ( issued by the Little England Government) and may be deported at any time.
P.S. Your Clarity card is issued by Bank of Scotland plc. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
I would ignore all the obvious trolls in this thread OP.
You need to apply for a visa at least 6 months before you travel (a Visa credit card will not be accepted) and must submit to a full rectal examination before being readmitted to the UK (which Scotland has not been a part of since the Great Deep-Fried Mars Bar War of 1996.)
I would agree with some posters that taking some livestock would be helpful, and unmarried daughters are widely accepted.
Bringing in the full rectal examination is the best thing that ever happened to the Scottish tourist industry. It's the main attraction for most English visitors.0 -

Blackpool is OK, well it would have to be, if they did not take Scottish money they would lose half their business.
Kent is very bad, always have problems. I know which local cash machines dish out English notes so I stock up before I venture that far down.0 -
