  • shame you haven't got a couple of motorbikes you could leave there or a second car. Bit drastic but until you get your driveway put in there is nothing you can do.

Don't believe anything a previous owner or estate agent says as they only want the sale. You needed to drive there at different times to check for yourself. A lesson learned for next time.
  • First time buyer problems I guess, thanks for all the feedback again I'll need a drive asap spoke to the council and they say I do need to apply for planning permission so that's my next to do I guess! I would buy a second car to leave there but I'm 24 and to insure another car would be pricey!

Maybe legally how morally? The space looks bigger there then it is on the grass verge there's a stump that will rip your bumper off. Like I said previous if people park better we could fit 2 cars on there I really don't care as long as I can park when I finish work or come home.

To me that just looks like a 'drive up' dropped kerb to prevent damage from parking vehicles, it certainly isn't there just in case a house owner builds a drive.
around here the council paints solid white lines to denote a required access, like this

Change is inevitable, except from a vending machine.
  • My Gran has a private lane to her parked garden that she shares with the end house and the council have a dropped Kerb and she had access issues and they came to paint the line for free, once we have a drive people should be thinking more... it's like an unwritten law otherwise known as common courtesy I wouldn't dare to block someone's drive it's ignorant.

Once you have a drive, yes

But right now you really shouldn't expect people to leave that space free

Installing a driveway is the only answer here. Looks to me like the "red" part of the road is for anyone to park on, not just you personally.

Anyway sorry, I have to shout here..... LINKS DO NOT OPEN IN A SEPARATE WINDOW on this site anymore. It drives me nuts trying to get back to where I was. Whew!

It's a browser thing rather than this site
With Chrome they removed the option some time ago but you can install an extension 'Click to Tab' that will do it or get used to right clicking and 'Open link in new tab'

You have to understand that you do not own the road outside your house so the van driver is within his rights to park there. Until you get a drive you will have to put up with it. It's nothing to do with manners. Everyone else who has put a drive on their front garden do it for exactly the reason you that will do it, hat is, to be able to park outside their own house.

You can't because you cannot tell other people where they can park their cars on this road. They have as much right as you do to park there. It is nothing to do with manners. You do not own the parking spaces on the road so you are not in a position to ask people to move.
