When I send attachments with my emails people say they open with a load of gobbledy gook! What am I doing wrong? I am sending things I have saved in my microsoft works? I have tried changing the format it is saved in but it still doesn't work.
Any suggestions please?
Thanks

Could be a problem with the people receiving it. Most people have Microsoft Word to open documents. Do the recipients have MS Works? The format isn't the same and opening it in Word will just produce rubbish."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

Not sure but just say people don't have works like myself how can I get around this so I can send them readable attachments?0 -
You need to be a bit more explicit.
What version of MS Works.
What operating system are you using.
And finally what type of files or what is the extension on the file is it doc, xls, pub, ppt or some other type.0 -
Oh dear bare with me and I'll try and find out

If the recipient doesn't have MS Works, they'll have to convert the .wps file. I think there's a convertor they can install in office. Otherwise you'll have to download Openoffice, create the documents in that, saving them in a MS Word/Office compatible format. I don't think there's anything you can do at your end with Works."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

Britbrat's advise re saving as a rtf file should work as long as you tell the recipient who should be able to load into word (dependant on version may need a converter, though very unlikely).
I have just checked my installation Office 2007 Enterprise Edition and it looks like it can handle your work documents.0 -
Make a simple text file (.txt) and send that to yourself.
Then if thats OK send the same file to someone else and see if they can read it.
Trying to rule out file format incompatibilities. Everyone should be able to read a .txt file.0
